As time goes on, the more I looooove coats.
It’s one of the only categories of clothing where I don’t try to restrict myself, because I love having a coat for every occasion, every temperature, and every type of outfit.
And honestly, with New York temperatures, coats are probably the thing we wear out the most.
Anyway, here are three new ones, and I fell mega ultra in love with this white duffle-coat from Coach, which has gone straight to my top five favorite things to wear. It’s sublime, warm, and the leather details are incredible. People stop me in the street every three minutes to see where I got it!
(Ok ok, I’ll get back to you at the end of the winter to let you know about my dry cleaner bill…)

Ah ouais bah moi c’est plutôt le contraire : genre un manteau pour tout l’hiver et ça me va. Ok en fait j’en ai plutôt 2, bon ok 3. Mais je n’en ai pas racheté depuis deux ans. Après je ne vis pas à New-York mais à Paris. Il peut faire froid mais rien de sibérien alors ça va… Bisouxxxxx !
Le manteau max Mara est à tomber (le prix aussi, il faudrait que je vende l’un de mes organe pour l’acheter, tant pis…pour l’organe en question)
C’est un post qui tombe à pic, et les looks sont très sympas (à imaginer dans la vraie vie avec des chaussettes parce que les chevilles à l’air, là tout de suite…*froid*)

Ma Garance you look absolutly Ffffffffffffffantastic..but it is mostly because of you :) i think you can put whatever and i will love..your choice of coat is classic and elegant like you ….. your choice is perfect for Paris streets..but here in New York i would say it’s a big challenge just to walk in the street with the winds in your face ….and …this kind of coat will put you on risk ………….but after all fashion is fashion who cares…..

J’aime les trois mais mon prefere est le premier look. Les differents gris allies au beige du manteau oversize, le bas du jean effiloche avec de belles pompes, cette decontraction chic : j’adore !
Quel style Garance! Je l’adore franchement…
PS: Ton livre est génial, je le lis tous les matins en allant travailler! Et il illustre tellement bien le fait qu’ il y désormais un style Garance Doré :)

J’aime le manteau oversized mais sur les autres…
Sur moi qui suis petite, ça fait soit petite fille qui a pris le manteau de sa mère, soit peignoir informe qui me fait disparaître complètement, soit petit sumo (ok dans ma tête seulement)… pourtant j’adore.
Je en sais pas pourquoi mais j’atterri toujours avec des manteaux très ajustés, pas très confort sous lesquels je ne peux pas mettre de gros pulls et sous lesquels j’ai parfois froids…
Bref, je suis pas très forte en manteaux.

Ils sont super ! Ca me donne aussi envie d’en avoir plusieurs, les manteaux c’est génial pour ne pas avoir froid (pas de problème de pont thermique à la taille), et quand on est en mini jupe ou robe. Mais dis, comment tu fais pour ne pas avoir froid aux pieds ??
Lovely! But can we please talk about what winter in NYC really is? We can’t walk around with our coats open, ankles exposed, no socks, no scarf, no hat. And then when the snow comes ?!?!

I too have an addiction to coats since I live in San Francisco and the weather can be so foggy and cold in the evenings, even in the summer! I think coats are great value based on the number of wears for the expense….or maybe I am just trying to justify my shopping habits! ;)
I couldn’t help but notice that you are wearing frayed edge jeans in ALL your photos! I also currently have an obsession with this frayed edge style in my jeans and have 3 pairs! Perhaps you can talk about this “trend” also!

I love the first one and was excited to see at the bottom of the article it’s a Club Monaco = affordable… But then when I click on “shop the story”, it appears to be Max Mara!! You should amend it to avoid any further disappointment :)
Gorgeous coats and photos! May I ask one question? The photo captioned “My Coats” has a stunning pale pink coat. Where is it from?
I like the first and second coat. I will never understand why dress warmly on top and wear thin shoes without socks when it’s freezing outside. My feet and hands get cold and stiff even when I don’t feel the cold in my torso. Are fashion people’s feet immune to cold by default? Or are you used to your feet being numb and/or uncomfortable from wearing high heels? I’m not being sarcastic, I truly mean it.

Dear Garance, please, please, please, tell me, how can you survive November in NYC with no socks? Are the NYC pavements heated? There is no irony in my questions – it’s just that I love having bare feet / legs, but it’s just impossible for me to go for it when it is less than 15 C outside. So I am always wondering about the marvels of the NYC climate when I look at all this pictures of women sporting their bare ankles (or calves!) in Arctic temperatures. Wearing my ski socks whilst typing.
I love all the three coats. My favorite is the second one. I have several coats , I mostly buy them vintage. Some were my moms, I had to tailor them but they are really good quality. I have difficulty finding coats like that now in stores.
My Favorite is the nude pink coat so lovely and chic.

I’m glad you got rid of that Steve……I always felt there was something not right about it……he looked so distracted….not ready for committment or something……You deserve a man who adores you and wants a wife, and maybe a family and to settle down. After all family is what matters in the long run.
You are so lucky you can even wear coats! Which are so beautiful! The pink one is my favorite! I live in LA, and today it’s 82F, so I can forget buying coats or sweaters for the rest of my life! WAHHHHH! Wish I lived in Paris or London, but my life is here, and its all good.

Depuis que je vis en californie du Sud mes manteaux me manquent…. Mon oversize en laine noire de Burberry, ma parka bleu nuit et intérieur fourré Nafnaf (qui eput cru qu’ils faisaient de beaux manteaux) ou encore mon manteau masculin pied de poule de chez Mango… j’ai pris des billest pour NY en décembre d’ailleurs pour pouvoir enfin les porter !!!! ahahaha!!!
par contre j’ai du mal sur moi avec les longs manteaux oversize qui font vite peignoir cracra…. Alors que tu le portes tellement bien sur la première photo.
Par contre le manteau blanc moumoute à NY… Bon courage :)

J’adore mais une chose que je comprend fort peu , comment faites vous pour être sans chausssette et ne porter que des bas transparent, collants transparents?
Les repetto blanches par cette saison avec le manteaux oui c’est très beau, mais est-ce réellement la tenue que vous portez lorsque vous marches pour vous rendre au boulot?
J’ai de sérieux doute.

I love coats too. In fact, I’ve just bought two items this season and both are coats. One of them is from Zara and it’s surprisingly warm (I live in the North of Germany, so warm is important!) I honestly wanted a Max Mara coat, but for now that Zara version will do…

J’aime bien le sujet. En même temps, je me demande dans quelle mesure êtes-vous une fashion victime qui se débarrasse de ses manteaux la saison d’après. Je sais qu’il y a plein de tentations chaque année, mais un manteau c’est à part. Je ne pourrais pas me lasser facilement. Je me rappelle encore le Van Noten en fausse fourrure très chouette et très chaud dont vous parliez. Je l’ai encore. Toujours autant de plaisir à le mettre.
