The Style of Emily Oberg

3 years ago by

We are in search of some warmer weather so jumping over to Los Angeles to chat with Emily Oberg of Sporty & Rich about her pared down, 80s inspired style.

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

Simple, classic, sporty

What are your inspirations when designing for Sporty & Rich?

70s, 80s and 90s sportswear, John F Kennedy JR and Carolyn Kennedy, Princess Diana, Jerry Seinfeld, Upper East Side New York, tennis players from the 70s, the places I travel to and the places I live (Paris and LA).

Who were your style influences when growing up?

Audrey Hepburn, George Costanza, Fran Lebowitz, my dad!

How did the pandemic change your thoughts on getting dressed and overall style?

I think each year I realize more and more that I only want a small wardrobe with key pieces that I can wear over and over again. Less is always more and my favorite thing is getting rid of stuff. I’m always downsizing – my goal is to eventually own like 3 things and then I’ll be happy.
