The Best Dressed

We’ve spent our morning at the Studio discussing it…
And we are ready to tell you who we think was best dressed at last night’s Oscars!! Is the anticipation killing you?!
Emily: Naomi Watts in Calvin Klein. Her hair makes the whole look feel very relaxed Hollywood glam, plus I would get married in this dress.
Garance: I vote for Jennifer Lawrence, because even though I’m not 100% sold on that dress, I love the bold color and am always for a straight strapless neckline. I am crazy about her hair pushed back that way – usually I don’t like the way she wears her short hair. Also, I just love her. Also, Em stole Naomi Watts from me.
Ricardo: Not only does Lupita look beautiful (in Prada), but she’s fierce enough to coin her own color name: Nairobi Blue.
Alex: I just think Kate Hudson looks hot. Plus, I love a cape. Good work Kate, and good work Versace.
Brie: Ellen! Three custom suits from Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent…that may be my dream (not Ellen in suits, but a tailored suit for myself). My favorite was the glitter jacket and then the all white ensemble.
Carolyn: I’m all about a plunging neckline with a huge diamond necklace, so I’d have to nominate Charlize Theron in Dior – not sure how I feel about the bottom of the dress though – scissors anyone?

Most of Ellen’s trouser’s looked as if they need another fitting to me. Just did not think the cut was flattering on her. Charlize looked very unhappy to be there but great dress. Got to admit I miss the days before stylists reigned supreme there was a little more individuality back then. We need Bjork with her swan dress and egg bag.
Agree. Also I miss Helen Mirren in her crazy English hats and veils with wierd dresses. Now she is just one of a crowd.

My vote for best-dressed is Jared Leto. His look was so fresh. It was nice to see something besides the traditional black tux. The hair, the eyes, that bowtie!

Not much “blew my skirt up” — that said did anyone see Kate Blanchett dress from the Independent Spirit Awards? I think she was wearing a felt Roksanda Illincic. People are loving and hating.
I loved all the choices except for Charlize … she’s gorgeous but that dress is awful. The top looks like one of my ‘t-shirt’ bras and it doesn’t fit her properly … it looks like it’s made out of neoprene.
Lupita was my favourite! That dress was just divine! Followed by Naomi Watts in her Calvin Klein…

I love most of her choices in general, because she knows how to dress in a way that flatters her natural features and enhances her own beauty. You never get the feeling that the dress is using her as an exhibition object (if you know what I mean …).

ça m’a un peu consolé de ce cauchemar fait la semaine dernière dans lequel ils ont filés tous les Césars à Gallienne. (Alors que l’inconnu du lac est le meilleur film de l’année) bref.

J’aurais plutôt mis Lupita en haut du podium, elle a fait un sans faute durant toute la saison !

Moi, je ne comprends pas pourquoi vous ne parlez pas du tout des Césars? les actrices françaises aussi sont belles, parfois très élégantes. Comme les américaine d’ailleurs qui sont elles aussi très belles, naomi Watts, chicissime, mais elles peuvent aussi être vulgaires, horribles. Chez les française, le césar de la meilleure actrice , la magnifique Sandrine Kiberlain (une beauté tout à fait unique) était sublime en Alexander Wang pour Balenciaga, d’une magnifique simplicité, et Bérénice Béjo était très belle aussi dans une très belle robe de Maxime Simoëns. Alors oui, c’est moins spectaculaire qu’à Hollywood mais ça vaut la peine d’en parler un peu.

j’ai trouvé les tenues de cette année assez décevantes… pas vraiment de coup de cœur, mais j’ai quand même trouvé Pénélope Cruz et Julia Roberts superbes, les 2 plus belles robes de la soirée à mon avis!

And I feel in love wth Allison Williams in one of the after parties. That long pink dress was my favourite!
Oh, and of course Cate Blanchett was spectacular ebcause she is spectacular.

Naomi Watts is just impeccable, the hair, the make up, the dress is so chic and relaxed, perfection.
Lupita is just exquisite, and the headband was the icing on the cake.
I also loved kate hudson’s dress super sexy and feminine.
Hands down Lupita!! She was absolutely stunning. This blue was just perfect on her.

Lupita’s dress was true perfection ; personally I don’t like Charlize’s dress at all. The straps don’t work for me .. if they’d just been more “pointu” instead of straight – angled .. but hey, I’m no designer of course nor a Hollywood stylist .. just my own humble opinion
No mention of Diane Kruger in Valentino?? Maybe it was just an afterparty dress (I was dealing with an unreliable online stream here!), but man, she looked good. Plus I just love Valentino.
