Ok, I confess! I didn’t watch the Emmys…
I did spend a decent amount of time searching the hashtag #emmys2014 on Instagram* to see what everyone was wearing. After 237,485 photos of Julia Roberts in her leg lengthening short dress (by Elie Saab) and red dresses aplenty, the elegant and surprisingly not bride-like ladies in white won spots as my favorites.

I must say that that it is disappointing to see all this dresses ..most of them are to complicated and didn’t feet the ladies at all..it is not about the dress or the label..it’s more about how you look with the dress…
and yes Brie you did right to choose the white ones..

I agree too many evening dresses are over fussy, the dress seems to wear the woman; surely that’s the wrong way round? Of these I prefer Michelle Monaghan’s simple elegance. I wish such a lovely dress on such a handsome woman(that smile is a delight) fit better though. It looks as though she took it after first fitting, I’d have made a closer fit in the bodice, shortened and slightly shaped the sleeves and definitely shortened that skirt by ten centimetres or so, probably applying a slight shape to reflect the sleeve.
Being picky though, ladies are encouraged to dress flamboyantly at these events, yet gentlemen get to wear a black lounge suit(with shiny lapels-wow!). Time for a little flamboyance for us; if we wish?

Of all the outfits I’ve seen from the Emmy’s (I didn’t watch them either), my favourite was Michelle Monaghan’s. I thought it was effortless, simple, and elegant (although she could have worn different shoes…).
I really liked the white, blue and green number that Michelle Dockery, the bird out of Downton Abbey, wore…
Kate Mara looks great. I especially like the upper part of her dress. Allison Williams has lost a lot of weight…may be it is because she is wooed by all those fashion Houses (Dior, Giambatista etc.) and wants to fit in their show piece samples? And Michelle Monaghan, wow what a healthy tan and nice hair color.
I agree with Katherin about Robin Wright – I normally find backless a bit vulgar, but this is so beautifully tailored the issue doesn’t even arise:

Kate Mara’s hairline is so freakishly low that it disturbs me!
Didn’t watch the emmys haha but I always enjoy looking at pictures of the red carpet the day after :)

I love Elie Saab dress worn by Julia Roberts and also the Donna Karan monochrome cut out one worn by Lizzy Caplan. But I do like these white ones you are sharing here too!

I didn’t really watch, just a peek. I adored Gwen Stephani and Kristen Wig’s dresses.
