The Hair at Carven
11 years ago by
My first crimper in the wild (backstage) sighting happend at Carven!
I like when artists get creative with hair textures so I was pretty giddy at sight of crimped hair on the models yesterday. (Semi-related: I had a brief phase where I was really into mini-crimping my hair in high school. Not my finest moment.) Moving on…
The crimped look here was soft, slightly brushed out and focused on the top section of the hair, which added volume and texture without being too overpowering. I liked the way the hair was all pushed back and the under layers kept slightly wet and undone. I’m not sure if I am ready to bust out the crimper again (that mini-crimper is still banished), but it’s tempting…
It looks stunning! Unfortunately I don’t think this type of look works on me.

I had a moment crimping my hair back in middle school as well. The 80s were confusing, I think it’s totally excusable. But now when it’s done, it’s done in such a different context, I actually think it’s amazing. When my husband and I made our last dancevideo piece the makeup artist crimped my hair and it gave it the most amazing texture and movement, I absolutely loved it. You can see it here:

So I say yes, go ahead, play with it. Give it new meaning.

Tres” Revival”annee 80 et ce n’est que le début pour nos chevelure!
Pour les défilés et photos ok! Mais au quotidien bof!
Why should anyone regret crimping their hair in the 80s? The look was fun and fierce. It can still be cute as long as it isn’t paired with crispy bangs!
Hi Sabina- I wish it had been the 80s when I was crimping my hair!! Unfortunately I jumped on that train in 2003…so yes, I regret it ;) xo Alex
Alors Garance j’espère que nous prépare un PARDON MY FRENCH de 90min parce que là on est très déçu! come on’ xx
I recently modeled for a hair show for Unite and the stylist used a crimper to create awesome texture for my hair by running it backwards up the shaft, teasing it to create a huge beehive that would not budge. It’s so cool to see how professionals use tools we take for granted to create something super fresh and exciting.

en ce moment justement je pense souvent au fer à gaufrer que j’utilisais petite, et j’aimerais bien m’y remettre, je projetais même de me renseigner sur les nouveaux modèles de fers pour ce type d’effets.
