The Face Chart

One of my favorite things about covering backstage beauty is getting to take a look at the face charts at each show.
I love seeing the instructions given to the artists for the makeup application and the way the look is described. I wouldn’t be opposed to someone putting together a face chart for me to follow everyday…

they give these to you at make up counters sometimes – at the store i’m always mesmerized by how pretty it all looks on paper and no matter how many times they repeat it to me, i ALWAYS forget how to recreate it. considering it as artwork instead seems like a better way to go!

have you seen francois nars’ book, “make up your mind”?
it’s full of these kinds of charts, but overlayed onto models faces! so you can see the product breakdown and how he creates soooo many different beautiful looks. it covers a wide range of faces/skin tones and age groups. very inspiring.
The first time I went to a makeup counter –Bobbi Brown at Neiman Marcus– they used one of these to show me what to do with my various new palettes. Brings back wonderful memories!

En effet ce serait chouette d’avoir un face chart avec chacun de nos maquillages…
Dommage que le maquillage des mannequins d’Isabelle Marant ait paru un peu “pâle” d’autant plus que les mêmes mannequins paraissent anorexiques…
A part ça j’aime beaucoup les créations Isabelle Marant !

Chez M.A.C. ils te le font ! jour, nuit etc…faut payer une séance un peu cher avec un des make-up artists et hop un book maison fait avec les produits utilisés sur le papier :)
