The Beauty Holy Grail

11 years ago by

As a beauty junkie, there have always been a few holy grail products. The ones you dream about making a permanent part of your routine…

They seem so luxurious, so precious, that you would even consider giving away your first born in exchange for one… okay, not really…well, maybe…

For me, one of those holy grail products is Rodin Olio Lusso. There is something about it that feels so glamourous. Of course, in my fantasy beauty world, I’m laying around in a silk robe with perfect Veronica Lake waves putting drops of oil onto my already perfect skin. When a few samples arrived at our office last week, I couldn’t wait to get home and give them a try…

I’ve been using the face oil straight out of the shower and it basically melts into my skin, not to mention it smells like heaven. It is seriously so luxe, I almost feel guilty putting my foundation on over it (but I do and it’s still amazing!). I’m also kind of in love with these travel size samples, perfect for staying all Veronica Lake like on the go.

Do you have an ultimate luxury beauty product that you’d trade your first born for?

  • Yes! I remember thinking it was a brand only moms would use; going towards brands like Nars or random Organic companies. But I love Shiseido! I love their brightening products.

  • Well.. I wouldn’t go as far as trade in my daughter BUT… I would say anything by La Mer. I love the smell and what it does to my skin.

  • Hum… bonne question.
    J’aime beaucoup tes posts; merci!

  • anything L’Occitane Provence

  • I just stayed at Lake Placid Lodge and they had the most amazing spread of L’Occitane for the guests!!!
My last blog post shows each one, it was amazing!! http://www.behindthemirrorbeauty.com/2013/05/forgotten-memories-old-favorites.html

  • Hi Alex,

I love the smell of Rodin as it is heavily scented with Jasmine. Yes, L’Occitane and Clarins
are always good choices too. Do you know about an equally luxurious product called
Get spOILed? This is the most beautiful facial oil, great for all skin types – even those with rosacea.
It has 19 luxe ingredients includng maracuja & boabob. For complete listing you can check the website at:
    http://www.getspoilednow.com
The price is very good considering all the natural ingredients. 100% of our test market loved it.
The essence called étoile is amazing for hydration & makes you feel like a star – a la Veronica Lake.

  • I love my Phenome milky almond body butter. I love the smell and how it gets absorbed into my skin. I always feel like I’m Opera when I use it.

  • That looks interesting and I like Biotherm> Have a nice friday.

  • it sounds divine, but having very oily skin it might not work well for me.

  • I love the Skinceuticals Vitamin C serum, it doesn’t have any smell or anything but makes my skin glow.

Leonor Greyl hair and skin oils. Wonderful stuff.

  • Aesop fabulous face oil!

  • I agree fabulous face oil by Aesop is well . . . Fabulous! I hope to try Rodin soon.
    Thanks
    Polly xx

  • Great recommendation. My holy grail product? Coconut oil. Since it’s solid, it works well as a moisturizer, hair conditioning mask, body lotion and so many other things. And it smells amazing. But I also love the Sheiseido eyelash curler, Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, Rodial Dragon’s Blood XXL Plumping Mask (the smell!!!). But honestly I’m still on the hunt for 100% Holy Grail skincare and makeup products and still haven’t found the best of the best of the best!

  • I HAD one, my daydream. But they decided to remove these from all stores so now I have a problem. Thing is I can’t handle most day creams so I need to find a new GOOD one within one week and testers seem not to exist anymore….xx

Now that I live in Australia I treat myself to some Aesop goodness :) Leurs produits sont juste delicieux! And of course, l’huile prodigieuse de Nuxe… J’adore!

  • Oh, there are quite a few…. I love, love, love the Rodin oils, too, especially the face oil. And then there is the Revive night cream, the SPF 50 day cream by Madrid based facialist Massumeh – fabulous products!! – Dr.Sebagh vitamin C powder (though I look forward to trying the Skinceutical ones), the gentle and organic Sentara products, Supergoop City Serum SPF 30 and more…. And of course, the fabulous, and really shouldn’t tell, totally intoxicating, unique perfumes by Argentinian nose Julian Bedel, Fueguia 1833….

  • Thanks for presenting those to me – I have never heard of them before so I’ll definitely check them out :). I also have a few of those products that are a must in my routine for quite a few years now. But I’m still wishing for that Gisele skin ;).
    Have a lovely Saturday :)!

  • A combo of YULI Skincare’s Panacea Elixir and M.E. Skin Fuel makes me so happy every single day. I’ve tried so many facial oils out there, including Rodin, but I always go back to Skin Fuel.

Hello Grance!!! Try with the amazing DECLEOR Paris; I´m totally in love with that brand since 7 years ago.

    HAVE A NICE WEEKEND!!!

Advanced night repair sérum d’Estee Lauder
    Les sérums skinceuticals
    Produits Christophe robin
    Crèmes Sisley
Make up By Terry et Nars (tout)

  • I’ve always been in love with Kiehl’s products but the Rodin oil sounds amazing!
I’ll definitely have to give it a try :)

  • Hello Garance,

GOOD GENES by Sunday Riley, actually anything by Sunday Riley.

  • Christophe Robin Hair Mask “Brun Froid”.

    Absolute perfection.

  • I’m a total Clarins-aholic, but sometimes I cheat with Kiehl’s every now and then… But I love oils… I have oils for everything! :)
I stil don’t have found that Beauty Holy Grail… maybe it’s because I just don’t believe things anymore. Everytime I see a recommendation (in magazines, webs, tv…) I don’t wether it’s a sincere recommendation or just another way of advertising…

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil, love it but will have to try Rodin
    xx

  • Dear Alex and team
Another thought-provoking post. Whilst I wouldn’t go as far as trading in my kids for products since I’m rather attached to them, I agree with the sentiment that a desert island product (or several) makes all the difference to our well-being. Now I’m wondering, can there be one product to achieve this with consistent use or does it vary according to weather, stress and hormones? Looking forward to trying out some of your suggestions XX

My holy grail really is extra virgin pure coconut oil. i slather it on my whole body every day after showering.. I really miss it when I don’t do it! Its mainly for my body, but i also use it on my face, as a hair mask, and also take it internally..Honestly I love the Rodin face oils- I have gone through several bottles, and the smell is heavenly, but like most “miracles in a bottle”… i never saw the changes in my skin like an excellent diet, lots of water, a little sun, and good regular sweating (i.e. exercise and sex!) can do for my skin.. I am searching for a perfect moisturizer wt/ SPF for Paris climate extremes.. and want to try a good BB or CC for make up times… Coconut oil actually has a natural SPF of 6-8 so its amazing how golden I will get in the sun even after oiling myself up… as for makeup- my holy grails are By Terry touche veloutee concealer and Blinc tubing mascara, and Nars Orgasm blush- still the best!

… and where do you buy your coconut oil? THANKS
