Second Day Hair

10 years ago by

Second day hair… on the first day.

I’m trying I really am, but I’m still adjusting to the not washing my hair everyday routine. I’ve been giving it a go on the weekends (I did it this weekend!) and I have to say, I’m loving my second day texture but not always the total look. The other day Rodney from Cutler Salon stopped by the office to help us with the Bermuda shoot and shook some of this Redken powder into our models hair before braiding. Of course, I made him put it into my hair as well and bam!, it was instant second day texture on my freshly washed hair. It’s great when you need a little boost in the volume department, need help with an updo or if your still trying to nail the French girl thing

  • I get the best texture in my hair with the Klorane dry shampoo, I just love it!
It makes me feel like Fran Fine from The Nanny for some reason.
I love having big hair, it makes me feel very feminine to move it around!

  • Again…and shamelessly…WE LOVE RODNEY!

My husband gets his hair cut with Rodney every chance he gets (read that…when trips to NYC and Haircuts coincide :) )

Anything he recommends — absolutely get it!

  • Cool! I have to try this

  • I wash my hair with an oil made by my dermatologist, left my hair so soft. Is argan oil based and super cheap also!!

I like to use Oribe’s Dry Texturing Spray for three or four days in between hair washes. My favorite game to play with my boyfriend and friends is to ask them, “Guess when I washed my hair last??” I’m sure they think it’s as fun a game as I do… but the answer always surprises them/grosses them out. But the texturing spray works so well. I almost find freshly washed hair to be kind of boring and blaaaaaah.

I’m laughing because my eldest daughter (27), her friend, and I had this same conversation with her fiancé. We all agreed that we can get up to 4 or even 5 days out of a hair-washing, especially with a good dry shampoo. He was SO grossed out by that concept!

  • on day 1, i use oribe’s dry texturizing spray to give my hair some grit since it’s fine. on day 3 i apply Klorane dry shampoo and finally wash my mane on day 4 ;) you can do it! i wash my hair 2x weekly every 3-4ish days.

  • Yes!! I’ve commented about this product here twice. So glad it’s seeing the love it deserves! And LOVE Cutler Salon…Tonino is the best w super fine hair!

  • C la même chose que “Super dust” de L’Oréal, c’est magique! mais il ne faut pas en abuser car ça dessèche un peu le cheveu.

  • Haha well done Alex !
Since I’m french, and my hair are straight, I think I’ve got this “french hair look” that you dream about, without too much effort. I just really take care of my hair, I brush them twice a day and try to choose only good products (I wash my hair with Rene Furterer Initia and then apply a conditioner “démélant” BioByNuxe which is, btw, a really good product) But it’s all about the french hard water…. so I think this product that creates volume is maybe a solution. In another hand, try not to put too much product on your hair, or a heavy conditioner/moisturizer… Usually, on my “first day” with clean hair, I put some Dessange “Absolue Legend” hair beauty oil before drying my hair.
    Hope it’ll help ;)
