Besides being the most affordable and sustainable way to shop, shopping vintage is the secret to finding the most unique pieces- the ones that looked chic on your grandmother, on you, AND will look chic on your daughter in 20 years. But sometimes vintage shopping can be overwhelming, too many things in one place and it can be hard to find those diamonds in the rough. That’s why I love following well-curated, shoppable vintage Instagram accounts like @persephonevint. They have a great eye for styling simply and elegantly, with really nice photography. • When my mom died, I went through her things and gave away lots of her clothes from the ’50s. Sadly, I could have fit into them a few years ago but not now. So I wanted them to get a new home. What really hit me was the quality. Finished hems. Beautiful tabs and pleats and buttons. Many pieces she made herself by hand, but others were store-bought but still of fine quality. I highly recommend vintage, not just for clothes but also for furniture, if you care about quality and the environment.
