New Hair?

10 years ago by

One thing that’s cool about having short hair is that it’s a great base to experiment.

Right now, I want to change mine a bit — first, I want to try a lighter color, even if all the colorists I’ve met in my life have told me not to do it, and then, I want to grow it a little longer.

That’s what I’m thinking. What do you think, it’s pretty, no?

(Yeah ok, it’s Lea who’s pretty. But try to imagine it for two seconds…So?)

  • Canon :) et avec ton beau visage ça t’ira très bien (coupe et couleur) faut se lancer depuis le temps que tu veux éclaircir you go girl ! :)

  • Garance you are so pretty also! It would be fun, no? Defy the colorists a little? lol And a little longer, framing your face, it would be lovely. I suspect a lighter hair color would make your eyes pop and sparkle even more.

  • BEST. HAIRCUT. EVER
    Go for it Garance !
it is gorgeous and would look great on you if you add some ombré effects to the ends/points (because it is summer )

do it yourself with those blond sprays you get at the drugstore …that stuff that you spray on the hair and it goes blonde in the sun….just highlight the front two bits

and the bottom ends all around

and put a lot of stuff in it to mess it around and give it movement

    ENJOY ! so jealous !

  • Oh Garance, just when I got mine chopped very similar to yours, you’re changing!!?
No matter, you’re young and hip and whatever you do you will look awesome – I have a few lighter streaks in my dark reddish brown. I have to admit, again, that after 25+ years with a classic short bob, having my hair cut shorter has been one of the best things I’ve done – I’m so loving it and it seems everyone I meet does too which makes me feel good about myself despite my age. I’m off on another big international journey soon and know I will love having cool breezes blowing through my short hair!

    Hugs – Mary

  • LOVE….i may try the same!!! xoxox

  • I love it!
I think you would look amazing in this hair style.
    Go for it!

    J’adore

  • lovely cut, and it would suit your hair texture. It should also be pretty easy to grow to that style from where it is now. I am not a fan of dark brunettes going lighter, but am interested to see what you come up with.

  • Gorgeous haircut, go for it!

It is a natural reaction to want to grow you hair some–in my experience, inevitable, really. No matter how great my short hair is, I always end up eventually just wanting hair, even when I know from past experiences that short is probably my best move. I think we all just need change and the eye needs to rest in a new place, so whether you grow now or later, go for it and eventually, you will be short again–until you are not! C’est la vie!

  • Super super like it, do it!

Oh, G!! Go for it. A lighter shade? Wow, you are going to look like a total beach chick — sun kissed! I vote “yay”!

Laisse parler tes envies.

Yes! Your current hairdo is great, but why not experiment? The look in the picture is so pretty and I’mm sure it will look beautiful on you. I don’t even know why all the colorists tell you not to. It’s not like you’re going platinum blonde here.

  • O I do know what you mean!! I have a seriously-short hair cut and after 25 years of colouring my hair (I’m 40 but with super-dark natural colour, the grey started popping up before I was 20 years old. Most unfair. So I started colouring it – so many different colours! I actually don’t mind my silver hair but it was coming in all weird – some here, some there, a patch over on this side, nothing at all here) I finally went to my stylist and said “make me silver. Everywhere.” I now have the sweetest little pixie (had to cut quite a lot of the old colour out as it didn’t take to the new colour as well) and a silvery blonde colour which I LOVE. I know bleaching = bad but it’s hair! And when it’s this short, you’ll get a whole new crop in under a year anyway. Have some fun!!!

    :-)

  • Love it! Go for it!

A bit lighter for Summer is lovely! So fresh.

I do too love to experiment a bit with my short hair (and because of that I can never keep it long for a longer time).
It’s liberating to have short hair, isn’t it? Like why hold on so dearly to something so arbitrary? So yes, go for it :) And keep us updated!

I’ve been a short hair girl forever…had my choppy pixie for about 10 years. I recently made a color change from my natural almost black to a deep auburn and it’s great. It gives my face more dimension and since I am over 50, softens the look of my little wrinkles a bit. Do it! whether or not you change the cut…give the color change a go. What’s the worst that can happen…?

  • Garance, I love your sense of humor. Your posts always make me smile.

  • No. Do not go lighter. I really think brunettes with blonde bits look kinda tacky.

I think you could totally pull-off the cut, G! Even tho her face is round and yours isn’t. But the color? Hmm…don’t think I’d try it. I’m picturing brassy, which is never good.

Garance, no matter what you do to your hair you will always be pretty!
I think short hair is the greatest and showcases the face. It does so with yours. Color it any way you want and experiment….I think it’s a great idea…I’m doing that with my own.
So much for my two cents. Cheers! Heidi NYC
