There’s no denying that mesh has had its moments.
Born during the punk era and matched with a mohawk, it was then revived at the turn of the millennia (remember TLC’s tour wardrobe?) — and it feels like it’s having a renaissance right now, pioneered by Alexander Wang in its more traditional gothic shade of black.
But we love how mesh and its similarly netted cousin fabrics are being slowly introduced in softer, more summery shades of white and cream. Probably the most breathable type of fabric out there, it makes sense for those sweatyhot days…

When done in a modern but not cheap or sci-fi way I think it can be a great add to any wardrobe. And the simpler the better, black, white, navy…
Mesh can be great, especially when layered over colour for effect, or when layered with the same color but different textures.
Living in Europe as I do, many of the trends I see in NYC have already had their moment over here long before they even hit the shops stateside. The last swan song for mesh came, in my opinion, this summer when Acne Studios presented the jumbo padded (!!!) mesh oversize tops for women in the SS15 collection. I adored the mesh vibe when it first hit the stores here a few seasons back…but now, for me at least, its bye-bye mesh…off to the archives you go!
Looks cool & breezy, in fact is synthetic hence nasty & sweaty.
Go for lace instead.

It’s a NO from me :) I wouldn’t feel very comfortable wearing it but then again, my mother loves it!
