LA Cocktails & Conversation

Last Thursday evening, we gathered together at The LINE Hotel for some cocktails and conversation at our LA Community event with Women & Whiskies. We got to meet some of you, hear your stories and best of all, listen to Garance chat with Bo Carney about following their passions.

Women & Whiskies focuses on creating spaces where women can come together and feel encouraged to share their dreams, inspirations and passions, and that’s exactly what this evening ending up being. Led by Anne-Louise Marquis from Women & Whiskies, Garance and Bo shared their respective stories about the risks they took on their creative dreams, the challenges they faced along the way and how the choices they made paved the way for the careers and lives they have today.

While mingling and sipping on delicious whiskey cocktails, we encouraged guests to share with us a moment they felt empowered to try something new or a few words about a person who inspires them and below are some of our favorites from the night! It was an evening full of inspiration and we so enjoyed meeting all of you who made it out.

“With my only currency being my expertise (not even enough in my bank account to pay next rent), someone special and powerful in self-worth, told me I could do it. I left my job, and established a creative studio based on my deep-rooted ethics, love for art and design, and need to create community. I am still successfully running that creative studio to this day.” ~ Cassie

“There is never a perfect time. That is my discovery of a year. Thank you so much for so many warm words tonight. You are both true inspirations.” ~ Kristina

“My grandmother who is not here anymore inspires me everyday to be a strong-willed woman. She was amazing and never let anyone step on her. She had so much kindness and grace doing it, too.”

“My daughter inspires me since she’s fearless and brazen. Conversations with her inspire me to consider new and different perspectives and to have a more open mind.”

“Mon père – Quartier Latin, Sciences Po, Essec Prep’ ENA etc. Mois a 14 ans, il est allé en RDA et en 1989, ouvrir sa boite en URSS (apres avoir été voir co chute du mur de berlin évidemment.”

“When I started working as an animator over 20 years ago, I was one of the only women. I rarely saw female directors or supervisors. After a decade of only being an animator, a friend pushed me to take a job as the animation director on a commercial. I was panicked. Could I do it? Would I fail? I had never done this before. Then I realized…why not me? Of course, I could do it! If that opportunity (and that friend believed in me) hadn’t come up, I may not have stepped into more leadership roles and proved to myself that I was more than I thought!.” ~ Eileen

We’ll be heading to Dallas in the next few weeks for our next community event, so be sure to stay tuned here and on social for all the details! We can’t wait to meet you!
