Film Review: Carol

Yes, I have a thing for Rooney Mara … and combined with Cate Blanchett, well, SOLD.
The trailer alone gave me chills, at the moment when Carol (Cate’s character) turns and says “I like the hat” to Therese (Rooney) . GUSSSHHING to say the least. It may be the romanticism of years past; the 1950s always presents this sort of seduction in both color schemes, strictness and forbidden behavior. Carol is a story about women, a story about bonds and, above all, a story about complicated love. It was so beautiful, I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I saw it last weekend.
Like any good film, there is both tremendous performances rife with humor and style, as well as cool imagery that will leave you wanting to transport back in time. Set in New York 1950s, you meet department store clerk Therese, who, in one glance, falls under the spell of an older, married woman Carol… and, well, the rest you’ll have to see for yourself!
For the record, I have not seen Blue is the Warmest Color OR Freehold (two lesbian films released within the last year) to compare Carol with, however I stand strong in my recommendation to see it. Here’s the trailer !

Hâte de la voir…fan incontestée de Cate Blanchett (et ce moment de félicité où une amie m’a dit que je lui ressemblais…bon c’était dans un film où c’était peu flatteur, mais je prends quand même ce mensonge éhonté en compliment ;) )
C’est moi ou Ronney Mara dans ce film ressemble grraaaave à Audrey Hepburn ???
