A Street Style With Paulina Liffner

5 years ago by

I’ve known Paulina for a couple of years now. When I was an accessories editor a couple of years ago, I loved seeing her every few months, not only because I liked watching her brand grow, but also because she has killer personal style. We’ve talked about Paulina and her super cute bag brand, Little Liffner, on the site before (you may remember her from this studio visit and this style post!), but we wanted to bring her back today! You can never have too much of a good thing, right?

How is your own personal style reflected in the bags you design?
I strive for some kind of refined simplicity with a hint of playfulness in my collections as well as with my own style.

How has your style (both your own and your brand’s) evolved over the years?
Inside my head my personal style is constantly shifting, but when it comes down to it, I’m oddly consistent. Tailored jackets, knee length skirts and some standout shoes make up the foundation of my wardrobe. I don’t feel like myself in boring shoes.

As for Little Liffner’s style, I feel myself going in a more spirited artistic direction as a designer, daring to play with organic shapes and new proportions.

What is most important to you in an accessory or an item of clothing – comfort, beauty or innovation?
Comfort and beauty in combination is my very definition of style. Innovation in many other areas interests me a lot, but when it comes to fashion, not so much. I prefer to look back in time for inspiration, there is so much beauty already in the world.

How does the city (or cities) that you live in influence your personal style?
In Stockholm I wear a lot of basics in a neutral palette, whereas in New York I dress up a bit more. In Florence I feel myself becoming less fashion driven. There is something about the light and vibe there that encourages individuality and timelessness.

What are some of your favorite brands right now?
Jacquemus, Rejina Pyo, Peet Dullaert.

What makes Scandinavian fashion unique?
It’s simplicity (which I love) and it’s roots in functionality, which I’m not sure is a good thing haha! We could use a little more playfulness and joy up here.
