A true essential is essential year-round, even a black pant.
Yes! That simple but always elegant staple we usually leave in a bottom drawer somewhere is maybe the most surprising essential for summer.
All-white is the New York summer uniform, but we’ve started to see so many cool plays on the black pant in more lightweight fabrics. Linens and soft silks in wide-leg crop interpretations like on Laura, or more playful for summer with details like Megan’s pompoms…
Always styled effortlessly with a casual tee and more refined, unique accessories – whether an embellished bag or belt, or statement sunglasses. I love mine with a colored sandal, soft tee and woven bag.

I completely agree and black is certainly a year round essential for me (she says while she’s wearing black in June!) It’s the easiest way to look crisp, clean, and put together with little worry. (Unlike the stress and fears that come with being adorned in white!)

I always wear black! Always includes summer. I sometimes (only very occasionally) include the occasional olive green or grey vest top or fluttery blood red skirt (with the other important garment being black.). But otherwise it’s black, all black errrything errryday.
My nod to the white sneaker trend is my Nike Air Max white, grey and black NYC trainers. I couldn’t take anything whiter than that.

I’m getting ready to head to my Island home in SC for three weeks, then four weeks in Paris, then another 4 weeks on the Island so figuring out what to take from my NYC wardrobe is a bit of a challenge. No black on the Island, the light’s too bright, it’s too hot and the only black I’ll pack is my Norma Kamali swimsuit. Paris is another story. I’m thinking of just packing black, white, and beige clothes (maybe a little blue in there, too) for ultimate mix-ability and because I know I’ll be hitting the sales. Definitely makes packing easier when you settle on a color scheme.
I love black and white mixed in the Summer, especially in linens, silks, crepe and jersey.

I like black in the summer, but I only like it with neutrals like cream and white, maybe light blue, or a very soft pink. I don’t really like black with bright colors ever. But it looks wonderful with white, navy, brown, or more black. A nice pair of black shorts and a white t shirt and red Converse is good.
