Yeah, ok, maybe my SPF 10,000 didn’t make the picture, but this’ll still give you a pretty good idea of everything that made my summer:
– My giant Karen Walker sunglasses that I thought I would never wear but actually do, even if they make me look like an insect. When I wear them, all the guys would look at me weird but all the girls love them. And that’s what really counts, of course.
– My Equipment shirts. So addicted. I’ve got tons of them and I wear them constantly and the older they get, the more I love them. At the beach, to give my skin a little break from the sun, I wear a nice light shirt seeing as I could spend hours – I mean HOURS – playing paddle ball.
– Paddle Ball. Yep, one of my essentials for the summer kit. Still terrible at it but kids at the beach love playing with me.
– My giant embroidered Montauk canvas bag that I can stuff my entire life in, even if it’s so heavy I have to make Scott carry it. It’s the secret revenge of women who all winter long have to deal with her guy asking, “Hey, could you put my phone in your bag? And my iPad? And my keys, actually? And my…” Okay, enough already!!!?!
– My hat, bought for $10 at the beach shop down the street because my panama flew away.
– My Samudra clutch because, well, I just love it. It’s my pink wallet you can see inside.
– My fantastic metallic pink Zara ballet-flats. I love them so much that I decided this morning that I’m going to go buy three pairs. You’d better leave those last three size 40s at the Zara on 5th Ave for me!!! Don’t tell me you haven’t seen them. They’re in every Zara in the world looking at us with their soft expectant gaze. Do you think I should get them in silver too?
– And last but not least, the September issue of Vogue, 250 pounds of ads and fashion to add to my summer tote to put the cherry on top of my secret revenge. The new season’s Vogue… always the one we devour daydreaming up the new woman we’ll be in two weeks, so much better, more relaxed, so hard working and on the run, but really well put together, with amazing hair, incredibly organized, and wearing Miu Miu boots…
It’s so good to think about getting back to it all when you’re on the beach…
Just make sure you stay on the beach….

Absolutely love the metal flats. I got a pair as soon as summer shone in London, and although it may not be true I keep saying “they go with everything”, ’cause I love them so much.

You know what upsets me about this photograph? That for some reason (completely unknown to me) I have not managed to get a copy of Vogue US september issue… seriously!
Otherwise I love your post ;) Always a pleasure to see whats in your bag. And let me thank you now for yesterday’s post. I am sure that so many women (including me) have identified at one point or another with that same relationship with food. Yoga was what did it for me- I stopped seeing food as something forbidden, and rather as a necessity of life (a very enjoyable necessity at that!)

Je suis pareille pour les raquettes de plage … Il parait que je joue comme un mec. Et pareille aussi pour les lunettes de mouche : mon mec déteste (et me file tout le temps son portable et clés de bagnole en pension, tiens), les filles que je croise louchent dessus. Bref, je suis presque une Garance Doré alors ? (même si je vais au Zara de Boulogne-Billancourt et pas à celui de la Ve avenue ? ) Bises bella.

sunglasses should be large and ridiculous, if you have the face frame to carry them, as they better block out all those harmful ultraviolet rays.
i had not yet seen those zara flats, and now, a beast has been awoken, been instilled with an intense hunger for metallic gleans.
september vogue is understandable, though, to be honest, when i am at the beach, i have at least three books with me.

Le mien contient aussi TOUJOURS au moins 2l de flotte, donc évidemment, ce n’est pas moi non plus qui le porte… ce qui fait que mon homme a un droit de véto sur le sac de plage que j’achète.
je n’emmène plus de vernis à ongle parce que :
1/ du sable incrusté sur le vernis, ça ne fait pas un nouveau style trop hype , mais c’est simplement moche
2/ la chaleur ça flingue n’importe quel vernis (une étagère dans la porte de mon frigo est d’ailleurs réservé à cet usage, ce qui fait rire mes potes quand ils vont chercher de la bière)
3/ c’est plus fun de faire des chateaux de sable ou ramasser des coquillages pour en faire des bracelets.
Grave envie de vacances.

I loved your summer stuff, as I read, I imagined you wearing them. The only strange thing (for me, as a brasilian) is that you go to the beach wearing ballerinas…I always wear havaianas (flip flops)! =)

These are great summer essentials, they all make me so happy, even though summer is almost over. But I’m glad you included the September issue of Vogue. It will definitely make the disappearance of summer all the more manageable. By the way, I love those Zara flats, I want them in every color too! Don’t worry though – I wear size 38!

Quant aux ballerines, voilà, ça y est, j’en ai envie!
Je profite de ton mot sur Vogue pour te dire que ton blog est devenu pour moi (et pour beaucoup d’autres j’imagine) aussi inspirant que ce magazine peut l’être lorsqu’on le lit sur une plage, juste avant la rentrée (encore une remarque très juste de ta part !). Je le consulte maintenant comme mes anciens Vogues, c’est à dire en relisant d’anciens post, en appréciant de nouveau les dessins, les photos et la beauté de l’ensemble (non non je n’en fais pas trop :) Bravo !

YES! Hallelujah! I’m not alone on this one. I thought I’m the only girl in the world who serves as a girlfriend and as a personal locker to my boyfriend.
I made my bf read that whole paragraph about Scott using you as his personal locker. LOL. My bf’s response was… “Why not?” Ugh….
Girl stuff, love all that girl stuff. But where are the snacks? You most have silver flats with tan legs :-) So beautiful! I found a simple pair of silver flats at Ann Taylor, cushy comfy too. Did you take some sand to bring home? I always do! Love the Vogue comment, yes, we always believe we will be better in 2 weeks. Slimmer, more beautiful, more love, more money, more friends…..aahhh the future.
