Julien d’Ys is a genius when it comes to hair. Seriously, he’s a true artist who transforms everything he touches.
The other day, my career as an international top model (which still hasn’t quite gotten underway. Elite, what are you waiting for?!!?) had me on a shoot with Peter Lindbergh, my idol.
And my idol works with the most fantastic people, of course.
I got to meet Stéphane Marais and Julien d’Ys, the funniest and sweetest beauty stars that ever existed. Plus we’re all French and so we never stopped joking around. It felt so comfortable.
Julien d’Ys had one of his scrapbooks with him. I was so moved an inspired by it that I asked him if I could take a few photos of it. He said yes.

In the scrapbook, you can see images that inspired the hairstyles of the last Comme des Garçons show, and from the last Dolce campaign, and then a few personal side projects…

Yes and using bright yellow pencil is great for under drawing. Luminous but not quite visible.

as a hairdresser my inspiration come to me very clear…..I could be at the opera and the lighting inspires me….Visconti films….but the single thread is it’s timeless.
Let me add this is very easy hairstyling….just applying pieces…what i admire is taking hair and styling it…Alexandre of Paris coiffed Princess Grace….no other hairdresser has come close with his timeless elegance…

It’s nice to be able to look into somebody else’s scrapbook. It’s like a sneak peek into their mind.
