I just love simplicity. The fewest colors, the fewest flashy things, and the least amount of makeup possible, if possible.
Ok, one of the major reasons for this is that I’m lazy :) but the truth is, I find simplicity calming, and I think it lets your eyes be free to look at the person more than the clothes.
That’s where my devotion to anything like jumpsuits and shirt dresses comes from.
I’ve also got a weakness for flowy, comfortable things, and I try to fight against it almost every day.
Like, this morning, I left home in a really cool Equipment jumpsuit – but it was really too cool. So I reassured myself by doing a “Jenna Lyons” and unbuttoning the top to let my bra show a little. I don’t really know what I think about it. Just tryin’.
ANYWAY. I really like the simplicity of Takiri, in the photo, and I’m a fan of these looks for the final days of summer.
Little aside about shoes: I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but this summer, in New York, Maryam Nassir Zadeh shoes were absolutely everywhere, on all the cool girls in the world (Brie is a fan! Delphine is a fan! All the girls in the East Village are a fan!) – I think those little heels aren’t always very easy (they really don’t work on me) and they can make your feet look big, but I’m super happy for Maryam, who we’ve been supporting here on the blog for years :)

La simplicité est reposante et le mono-couleur aussi, c’est vrai. Et pourtant Anna Wintour met très souvent des robes colorées et/ou à imprimés et ça lui va très bien… L’imprimé peut tonifier ou reposer selon ce qu’on choisit!

En ce qui concerne les petits talons, là encore, je suis d’accord. Je trouve ça très joli, mais en effet, il faut vraiment avoir des jambes fines et fuselées pour que ça marche. Je sais que sur moi, ça ne marche pas. J’ai les jambes trop musclées. Et tout de suite, le résultat n’est pas très flatteur, et donc c’est le contraire de l’effet recherché ! Sur moi, avec ce genre de talons, ça donne l’impression que j’ai des poteaux et des chevilles épaisses…
Donc, mieux vaut que j’opte pour des ballerines ou des talons hauts ou des boots/bottes.

Je suis, moi aussi, une adepte de la simplicite, du minimalisme dans tous les domaines.
J’aime la robe-chemise blanche accompagnee d’un filet a provisions blanc (tres chic!) et j’aime aussi beaucoup les sandales a talons que l’on peut porter avec tout.
Quant aux Birkenstock……Je ne m’y ferai jamais. :-)))
Lovely shoes and dresses. I especially like the black dress. One of my fashion goals for the season is to only wear black, white, grey, and navy. Boring I know, but it’s a fashion uniform.

I love mid heels. For me, they are more flattering than flats and i can walk in them all day. But then again, my feet looking bigger is not an issue (on the contrary, i hate shoes that make them look smaller as I think it makes my legs look thicker. ah ah, we all have our issues.

Yes, yes, yes simplicity. And simplicity is so different from ‘normcore.’ I think sometimes that’s what people don’t get. The Apiece Apart things are lovely, but definitely not normcore.

The older I get, the more simplicity and elegance matter to me–but I don’t think I could ever give up colour. I’m with you on the shirt-dresses and jumpsuits, though.

Je suis d’accord, j’aime beaucoup la simplicité dans le noir et blanc. J’aime beaucoup le vert style armé, ou olive, c’est une couleur qui me va tellement bien que c’est comme-ci ça remplacait mes couleurs préférées noires et blancs. De plus, je fais environ 1m66 soit 5’6″, je trouve que les talons de moins de 3″ ça laisse à désirer. J’aime quand c’est plus de 4″ de préférence. Pour revenir au vêtement, j’aime ce qui est ample mais aussi serré pour les jours que je veux me sentir un peu plus sexy. :) Hihi! Je fais beaucoup de va et vient entre les deux. Le serré et l’ample ça me va aussi bien donc j’adhère.

Next time you’re in Paris, go to Liwan a 8, Rue St. Sulpice. Gorgeous, glorious oversized shirt dresses and tunics in silk, heavy and fine linen, cotton. You’ll go wild. The clothes come from Lebanon and have that traveler-not-a-tourist look without looking costumey. Great sandals and jewelry too. I bought a Klein blue heavy linen dress a couple years ago there that is my go-to for summer dressing — perfect for walking around the city during the day, easily elevated to evening wear with heels and jewelry.
