I know, I know. It’s the last week of August. Come on, let’s not even talk about it, we’ll just pretend it’s still July 15th.
I don’t know why I’m so obsessed with summer, and so freaked out about fall. Before, I loved the idea of autumn–wearing coats, drinking hot chocolate–but now, it sends chills up my spine.
I don’t remember where we left off with the summer recap, I just know I had lots of useless things left to tell you, so here we go again…
The most “Back to Basics” moment of the summer
I told Chris I liked camping, and Chris told me he liked camping.
In other words, we tooootally clicked.
A guy who likes dirt and wide open spaces! Yes!
So when we went camping together for the first time, in a “forest” (don’t imagine Lord of the Rings or anything, it was a forest of tiny, dry trees) called Kaibab (yes, it kinda makes you hungry) next to the Grand Canyon, with our tent we bought for $27 at Walmart, we he made a fire, we he opened a bottle of rosé with his bare hands (obviously, we forgot the cork screw) and we he grilled fish (yes, even when we’re camping, we stay chic)(it’s called glamping)(glamour camping, guys) – I told myself it was really easy to be happy.
The most “well alright BUT” moment of the summer
I wouldn’t have said no to a little night at the Amangiri, not too far, to see just how easy it is to be happy in a breathtaking palace (umm…$2,365 per night, or so)
The most metaphysical moment of the summer
The time when, in the Croatian islands, I finally really admitted that each place has its own specific energy.
You arrive somewhere, and suddenly something changes in you. My favorite places for calm, creative energy: the Greek islands, the Croatian islands, Arizona, and Rio de Janeiro. For the moment, that’s it – I love lots of other places, but none of the others make me feel quite the same way.
Am I crazy, or have you felt that too?
The most bouncing moment of the summer
The night when, during a little party at my friends’ Marcela and Poli’s house, we had had too much champagne, and we all started listening to Flamenco and she got out her mini-trampoline so we could jump around in the apartment.
Being the naturally nervous girl that I am, I of course expected something to go wrong, but nothing did! It was amazing! Now on top of karaoke I want to add a trampoline at all my parties.
The most surprising moment of the summer
The time when Chris and I decided to move in together! Yes, we’re moving!
But honestly, we’ve been living together for a while now…French style, you know? Not a big deal.
The funny thing is how big of a deal it is to move in together in the US. Everyone is congratulating us as if we were getting married!!!
Americans are too cute. So romantic. I like it.
The moment the most “Ah, the life of a woman, How charming” of the summer
Every time I do a Brazilian. I’m talking about waxing. When I have to put myself in that (indescribable and humiliating) position.
I have friends who tell me: Just do laser hair removal!!! At least you’ll be rid of it once and for all! I don’t know why, but even more scared of going that route.
The most “I still can’t believe it” moment of the summer…
The time when Emily took my book out of her purse!!! My book! Finally in my hands!
It was such a strange moment! I looked at it and thought, it’s cool, so beautiful, I love the cover, it’s printed well, it’s great, I looked at it from all different angles, ok, ok, phew!
It was kind of like my mom when she told me she’d counted my toes to make sure everything was in its right place the day I was born…
I still can’t believe it!!!
The most #healthy #withmyguy #hopeitlasts moment of the summer
The day Chris bought a juicer so we could start “August right” and we made three juices in Gwyneth Paltrow mode, looking at each other like the #perfect #healthy #couple, and telling each other our new life as healthy people was seriously AMAZING.
And it stopped there.
Ever since that day, kale, ginger, and beets, which are “so good for your circulation, can you feel how good they are for you?” have been slowly decomposing (ew) in our fridge.
The most “Let’s calm down with the projections” moment of the summer
Jenna told me I should try other types of bras and I ALWAYS LISTEN TO JENNA.
And with my chest (in case you haven’t noticed, I have breasts) I was always into French-style lingerie – a bit push upy.
If you have breasts, you probably already get the picture. It makes a nice silhouette from the front, but from the side…Hmmm…It pushes them forward too much, it’s a bit too Wonderbra.
I never would have thought a triangle could work on me, so I’d probably never even tried one, but this summer, since I was tired of having my cleavage pop out of my tee-shirts, I decided to go for it. I went to Journelle, bought two amazing Fortnight triangle bras with no underwire, and I discovered…
The pleasure of chestly freedom.
And bras without underwire are INCREDIBLE!!! Why didn’t anyone tell me?!
Sure, they don’t go with everything, since they kind of flatten your chest, BUT, worn with the right clothing, they look really nice, and are also totally sexy. I copied everything from my friend Delphine, who’s completely given up on the idea of hiding her undergarments (it just doesn’t work. You see them anyway) and who wears linen t-shirts (kind of see-through) over her black Cosabella bras. I love it.
And it’s more modern than showing a lot of cleavage. So nice. And that’s why I ALWAYS LISTEN TO JENNA. And Delphine. To my friends, in general.

Ah oui, effectivement il y a des endroits plus propices aux calmes et à la création. Qu’on appelle ça feng-shui, énergie, géomagnétisme ou autre, il y a vraiment des “spots” qui donnent du peps et d’autres qui nous “aplatissent”. Moi je sens ça presque partout où je vais et aussi chez les gens. Ça peut être fatigant mais au moins ça a l’avantage de savoir reconnaître les endroits et les personnes propices. :)
La marque des soutiens gorges, please! C’est un de mes grands problèmes, trouver des sourifs qui me font la poitrine que j’aime (je fait du 30/80C,pas évident..)
Pour les lieux qui font résonner notre énergie de manière différente, moi ce sont des sejours à Bali et à Capri qui m’ont fait rentrée toute changée avec un boost de malade.

Ça va être trop bien!!! les premiers moments où on vit vraiment vraiment ensemble, comment on décore, qui a quoi comme espace dans le dressing, … Comme un nouveau début, j’adore! Ça me rappelle notre emménagement avec mon mec, on nous félicitait aussi comme si on allait se marier, et finalement, 4 ans après, je réalise en effet que ce fut tout comme.

When my husband (of almost 32 years) and I drove across the country last summer with our dog, we did some camping near Lake Alice, British Columbia. That was where we had what I consider the best meal of the trip. Yep. He grilled the fish — salmon of course since we were in the NW — and the vegetables, while yours truly roasted the marshmallows for the dessert of s’mores. The second best meal was on the trip back east and we were in Iowa on a cold, rainy, September day when I got a craving for pho…. and yes, thanks to my smart phone, we actually found some really good pho in Iowa. You guys will have so much fun.
New love is amazing, but in a completely different way, old love is too.

les soutiens-gorge triangles c’est LA VIE!!! je n’ai pas beaucoup de poitrine (90B) mais pendant des années je n’ai porté que des SG avec armatures, inconfortables, voire qui me faisaient mal à la longue. Et puis un jour, après un autre été passé sans quitter mes hauts de maillots, je me suis dis “mais pourquoi remettre ces armatures, si mon triangle de bikini fait l’affaire, un SG triangle doit bien marcher aussi” et je suis aussi passée aux triangles en lingerie… et j’adore!! je ne reviendrai jamais en arrière je pense :)
et sinon, je comprends tout à fait ce que tu veux dire concernant l’énergie de certains endroits, c’est même un peu magique parfois…
I think with bras its good to go once to a store and just try a ton of styles, even those you are sort of prejudiced against, AND to bring a couple types of top with you in your bag (tshirt, blouse, etc) to see if they’ll make weird lines or something when you actually wear them.
Mais comment fais tu pour aller dans autant d’Etats et de pays en seulement quelques semaines estivales ? Tu prends des jets supersoniques ou tu vis dans un autre espace spatio-temporel! Ouah! Et je ne veux même pas penser aux moults décalages horaires !
Sinon est-ce qu’on saura un jour comment tu as rencontré Chris ? Dans la Big Apple où des filles sublimes et sympas restent célibataires des années (je crois que c’est le taux le plus élevé de célibat, non ?), on peut dire que tu as (très) joliment rebondi :-)

Camping……i don’t know why but i have some hard time to imagine you…..i used to do it when i was very young…but when i started tasting Aman resorts..i must say it’s hard to go back camping..i will compromise on a simple ecology Hotel..more natural resource …you know good for the planet….happy to h your energy article …it’s like a morning vitamine C…L’amour……

I completely agree with you, there is such a special energy on Greek and Croatian islands (haven’t been to the other places yet). I especially love Croatia, though, my two favourite islands are Mljet (with the national park there is so much beautiful untouched nature) and Cres (the two tiny villages Lubenice and Valun are just out of this world!). Highly recommended!
I’m glad that you’re happy and in love. But, your posts are so Chris-centric, that they take me back to my high school days, and the girls that constantly talk about their boyfriends. You ask them how they are and they tell you about their boyfriend. But, it seems surprising in a not high school age woman; maybe a bit off putting too, at least for me.
Please share more details about the bra! I need to make this leap away from the wire. Thanks for sharing! Glad things are going well with your new man (I think you needed someone with a happy smile. Don’t we all?!)

Oh mais c’est trop rigolo, justement hier je suis allée essayer ce si joli soutien-gorge triangle sans armature avec plein de jolie dentelle super élégante de Princesse Tam Tam. Déshabillée, c’était juste sublime : joli décolleté, fin, sexy, j’ai adoré!! Mais avec mon tee-shirt par dessus, de profil, ça faisait les seins tout plats et qui pointent. La vendeuse a bien essayé de me dire qu’avec les bons vêtements, ça pouvait faire un décolleté d’enfer, sexy tout en étant classe et que ça me faisait même pas des oeufs aux plats mais je ne suis pas convaincue.. Mais tu marques un point en me parlant de confort! Je vais peut être me laisser tenter!

Could you please do a post on bras for larger poitrine please. Like you I am not keen on the wonderbra profile look but I worry that a triangle without wire might not give enough support. Support is quiet crucial for me now after breasfeeding my baby for 9 months….Thank you in advance.
Je te suis complètement sur les soutiens-gorge sans armature. Ça fait des années que j’en porte (et des années que j’en cherche des jolis qui maintiennent bien). Une fois qu’on y a goûté, on ne peut plus revenir aux armatures qui donnent l’impression d’étouffer. En plus c’est mieux pour la santé des seins… la lymphe circule mieux et comme c’est grâce à elle que le corps se nettoie, ça vaut le coup de ne pas trop la faire stagner au niveau de la poitrine en portant des sous-vêtements qui serrent trop!

Moi, je porte des brassières en modal avec un peu d’élasthanne, c’est très agréable.

J’ai vu Mijet, Hvar et Korcula, préférence pour la première, plus sauvage, bien sûr. Mais je veux allez justement dans les moins connues, plus petites. Des noms, please !!!
En fait, j’aime l’idée que la mer soit accessible de partout et avec nulle part de grandes étendues de sables avec 10 000 gens dessus. Des mini mini criques partout. Faut juste avoir ses shoes de rocher et hop !
Fortnight bras!!! They are wonderful, especially their ‘longline’ bras. I bought one last year and subsequently scooped up as many from them as I could find. They are super sexy and super comfy. Their entire line is amazing. Congratulations on the find :-)
Ah, the bra! This summer was my summer of the bra (among other things). I’d been wearing the same 4 no-underwire bras for over 10 years. This is not at all adult behavior, I know. So I went shopping for new ones and it took a crazy amount of time and energy to find reasonable no-wire bras! I even went to a much-celebrated bra-fitter, thinking that I just didn’t know what I was doing, and everything she had was so pushy and foam-cuppy. Apparently it’s been so long since I went bra shopping that the acceptable boob shape is totally different. I looked like I had little cannon balls under my chin.
Anyway, I did finally find something (thank you Wolford) but the shopping phase was tough. I learned that nipples are embarrassing, boobs have to very round, and a soft cup bra means spending life after 40 in a pit of boob regret. To all of this, I say no. And to you, I say enjoy the non-cannonball!

Mais sinon quelle liberté, c’est génial ! Ok je fais un 90B super standard donc mes seins ne tirent pas au naturel sauf si je cours. J’ai bien envie de continuer comme ca pour l’automne, on va voir ce que ca donne :D

Un soutif qui aplatit? ah non, déjà que j’en ai pas beaucoup…Bon, c’est vrai, j’ai acheté un triangle chez Aubade et il est rembourré (un peu). Eh bien c’est trop cool…
Et oui pour l’énergie. Le Sri Lanka m’a fait ça. Et Marrakech aussi, à chaque fois. Une résonance qui me correspond.
Avec mon mec, on a emménagé ensemble au bout de deux mois. Une de mes amies a décidé d’avoir un bébé avec son homme tout juste trois mois après leur rencontre. Pas de règles … Juste le bon feeling !
Sinon, le soutien-gorge triangle AVEC armatures c’est pas mal aussi (parole de 85D). Princesse Tam-Tam fait ça très bien (http://www.princessetamtam.com/fr/r1-lingerie/amy-a6909-soutien-gorge-triangle-armatures-gris-ardoise). Pour moi, le meilleur compromis entre soutien et naturel !
J’adore cet article – tellement sincère et joli! La vie est tellement plus belle en été. Particulièrement aimé l’histoire de la lingerie et pour les endroits spéciaux comme atmosphère et énergie, c’est super personnel comme perception. Pour moi c’est Melbourne, Milan et Paris…

I agree wholeheartedly about the change of feelings that comes with places. I moved to LA and am almost alarmed by my actions here that seem to be responses to the “vibes”. I am a pescetarian/almost vegan changing from an enthusiastic meat eater, have lost 20 pounds, am more spiritually inclined than ever, and just want to exercise all the time. I feel like a different person! in a good way, don’t get me wrong, but it is really strange.

bah moi ça fait longtemps que j’ai abandonné les soutifs à armatures…. en fait j’ai du en mettre 4/5 ans (de 14 à 18 quand la pression est forte…) et j’ai toujours détesté. une vraie oppression chez moi.
donc c’est soit triangle soit rien du tout ! et après c’est très dur pour moi de remettre un soutif même triangle… mais j’ai l'”avantage” d’avoir une petite poitrine (dont je ne connais même pas vraiment la taille vu que je n’achète jamais de soutifs… ).

Moment le plus métaphysique de l’été…
C’est vrais qu’il y des lieux ou dès qu’on y met les pieds on est à la maison. Moi j’ai deux villes qui m’ont procuré cette sensation, Rome et New-York et dans les deux cas ce n’est pas un effet de mode ou de “c’est des grandes villes”, car il y en à pleins d’autre de ces grande cité qui m’on rien fait, un peux comme toi.
Il y cependant un truc qui m’effraie, c’est d’aller au japon, j’en rêve et j’ai une peur extrême d’être déçu, alors que toutes les personnes qui en reviennent me disent que je dois y aller c’est mon pays… On verra un jour peut-être
