Review: Detoxifying Black Cleanser
11 years ago by
Seriously, just saying “Detoxifying Black Cleanser” makes your skin feel cleaner…
It was a few months ago that I received a sample of this Boscia cleanser at Sephora and while usually the sample ends up just sitting in a drawer (until I run out of space for a new lipstick or nail polish and give it the toss) but this little sample was different. Something about it said: Come on gorgeous, give me a try.
Quick skin background: I have 100% combination skin. Sometimes it’s oily, sometimes it’s dry, sometimes I look like Gisele, sometimes I’m hiding under the covers…you get the idea.
I tried it and I was instantly hooked. It’s a warming cleanser, so it warms on contact helping to open up and de-clog your pores. The warming doesn’t last forever, but its enough to make your face happy. It’s gentle, which means it doesn’t leave my skin feeling overworked or dry. And it keeps your skin feeling soft, clean and those pores looking smaller. What’s not to love?
Do you have a favorite face cleanser?
PS: A few of you asked yesterday if I had a face, or if I was just a pair of hands…great question! You can see me (crying at Chanel) in this episode of Pardon My French.
PPS: My nail polish is Abso-bloody-lutley by Butter London x goop (best deep red EVER).
PPPS: My ring is Cynthia Rybakoff.
PPPPS: You can get the Boscia Detoxifying Black cleanser here!
Hi Alex,
This sounds wonderful – something a little different. I have used Dr. Hauschka cleansing milk but now I use the MicaBella cleansing milk containing orange blossom & other nourishing ingredients like jojoba, sunflower seed oil, honey, ginseng seed extract and cucumber. Works wonderfully & smells divine.
Sold at http://www.intrigueimports.com On occasion I also like using an African black soap – but that’s a whole other type of product. Something another time for my blog – or yours!
Today’s blog – Sofia Coppola has nice cans!

I think we have the same type of skin! I can control the dryness and oiliness of my skin thanks to the Clinique three phase collection. Nithing had worked before that, you should definitely check it out!

Alex you are too cute! Love that you have getting to have little segments on here too and it looks like you are all such an amazing wee family. Keep up the great work and keep finding your voice.
I have very oily skin so my fave face cleanser is DDF Salicylic Wash. I loooove it, it really prevents breakouts. http://www.ddfskincare.com/acne-products/acne-treatment/00060748000489,default,pd.html?start=5&cgid=acne&navid=acne

You are right! That’s the coolest deep red ever!!! And you have really beautiful hands :)
My favorite cleanser hands down is this one:

but I do love boscia products, specifically the oil-free spf 15 daily hydration, it’s one of my absolute favorite day moisturizers, so I’m super curious now about the black cleanser. I wouldn’t use it every day since I’m really happy with my sensibio, but occasionally in the shower it’s nice to change things up a bit.

That looks really great. Have a nice day.

I just love the nail polish and will just die to have beautiful hands like yours…
When a post on your sunday hand’s routine???
Coucou Alex,

Nice to finally put a face to the name, Alex!
I know exactly what you mean about your skin. 2 months ago my skin was glowing and clear, and now… well I’d rather not think about how it looks now… I mean it looks fine under a bathtubful of foundation…
I need to try this!
You crying outside Chanel is so cute! Spontaneous and natural, which is so uncommon right now…
Thanks for sharing!

Hahaha, to me, ‘detoxifying black cleanser’ sounds quite scary actually. What if you can’t get it off and you end up with a black stripy face?! Hahaha!
I used the Clinique three step system for half a year, but in the end, I think I prefer something more simple. Just a face wash will do I think, as long as it’s super mild.
Shiseido…..just exfoliate…
butter london top coat with quick dry give a glossy shine and dry quickly
Erno Laszlo sea mud soap..Anne hall…Greta Garbo..this line is wonderful for oily skin sold at Bergdorf
Cleanse & Polish Cleanser by the english brand Liz Earle is a pure wonder for all skin types.
I love using it in winter, its creamy texture is just perfect.

Sounds like all one could wish for in a cleanser :-) would love to give this one a try!
Wow! Dying to try this. Love the idea that it heats up.
This one looks amazing, thanks for introducing it to us :).
My favourite is currently from Avene – Clearance, but I would like to try out something totally new :).

This one you will have to explain to me. Did I loose any episode of the skin odyssey? Weren’t you on a non-wash-face regime?
I am addicted to the skin topic always reading everything that I can get my hands on. Because of your post about your dematologist visit I read all about the non-wash idea, and decide to go on a non-wash regime.
It’s been more than a year now (WOW!! so fast!!) and my skin (witch is exactly like yours some days oily some days dry) was miraculously save.
Of course I miss the feeling of a water-and-soap fresh face some days (I won’t lie) but my skin is much more balanced, and the breakouts are long gone.
I use a 2 in 1 cleaser that is a water based cleaser and tonic at the same time.
So Garance, this time I will resist the temptation, and stick with what is working. You learn that leasson as you get older.
Thanks, but no thanks.
Cetaphil!! So reasonable and leaves my skin soft and clean! And I have oily/dry/acne prone skin!
