How to shop a sale
9 years ago by
The sales! They’re here!
Ok, so it’s kind of a crazy time to shop but we’ve been holding out for them here in the Studio. For some things, we’re happy to pay full price (the necessities and really really want that right now items) but, for others, we’ve been waiting until the price dropped. One thing all of us in the Studio agree on is that you need to approach sale shopping in the right way. Here are some of our tips:
1. Have An Objective
Know exactly what you’re looking for — it’s best to go in there with a plan, or else you’re just going to be distracted by all of the shiny things at great prices. You might go in there needing new jeans and end up with clutch bag #24. Best to avoid that.
2. Research Is Key
Spend the extra five minutes online working out where the best discount is because, even though one store might have that jacket for 50% off, another might have taken it down by 70%. Now you can also afford that pair of sneakers.
3. Dress for Success
For a day of shopping (real shopping, we’re talking about here), wear clothes that are easy to get on and off. A pair of lace up boots with a latex jumpsuit will not be convenient to slip in and out of, and might seem a little odd in some stores (incase you were wondering).
4. Eyes On the Prize
Be determined. Spend the time finding something you would have actually bought at full price because you love it so much. That way, it feels like a real bargain rather than a decent deal. Got it?
5. Think Ahead!
Now is the time to buy that coat for next year. Again, try not to get distracted by those amazing pumps or that dress that has you dreaming of a beach just because it’s snowing outside. We know it’s hard, but we have faith in you.
Happy shopping! :)
Thanks for the shopping guide! Personally, I’m a little tired of winter shopping.. already looking forward to spring, for pale pink, light grey, flowers on light scarves.. : https://solforsythe.wordpress.com/2015/01/20/looking-forward-to-spring-and-remember-the-olden-days-as-a-teenage-freak/
And this happens all the time, even if I’m out (or on the web) for sale shopping, I always end up where the cute, new, unseen things are (purposefully and well-placed) displayed… I’m always convinced I nee just the other season now!

This guide is perfect! I love shopping sales but often get overwhelmed or distracted… It’s important to remember what you need! These rules also apply well to furniture & home decor sales.
The interesting product are rarely on sold….

Rule #1 have an objective. Darn, that’s why I have so many clutches. I go to sales just trying to spot some fab deals rather than having an actual plan.

My Fantabulous World
Bisous!
Military precision is the key! Research, find, zoom in on the target…Sadly, my black cashmere from Joseph never goes on sale…

I have one more to add (after many painful experiences) – always go for your size. Do not size down/up just because you love it too much and the deal is too good (unless you oversize it purposefully). It just won’t work :)
Wear your best fitting and most flattering clothes when you shop. That way you don’t buy something that doesn’t fit well or really fit your style.
I love the idea of a mad shopper running around in latex & lace-ups :p
