Air Dry

9 years ago by

Not only is it time to start prepping our wardrobes for fall, but beauty routines as well. There is one big part of my summer routine I’m not ready to part with: air drying my hair.

I haven’t picked up a blow dryer in almost 5 months. Once the weather hits 55 degrees I stash it away and let Mother Nature do the work. I love being at the beach, going for a swim, and sitting out in the sun letting my dry (with that perfect French texture, you know what I’m talking about). I’m even going to miss the wet look that is more than appropriate when sitting beach side…

  • I know what you mean… but maybe letting it air dry at night and then in the morning you may still have that perfect french hair! I like to use the hair primer from Living Proof. Somehow it eliminates the frizz…
    here’s a post about it:

  • It may not have been 5 months for me but definitely have drastically cut down on the heat styling over the summer. But back to blow drying my wet hair during the colder days!
At least we have super cute knits to look forward to! :)

  • Summer time i love it more natural…and winter time more sophisticate…

  • I NEVER air dry my hair, even if it’s winter. I’d rather freeze my head walking down the streets of Manhattan, thank you.

  • Do you like to blow dry your hair?

  • In the comments i see a confusion between air drying and blow drying i think…
i can’t live without my hairdryer in winter, because it gives a more polished look when i wear hats. So for me its natural curly hair in summer and almost- straight hair in winter! Even though a nice blow dry can be ruined in 5 minutes where i live.

  • I hate blow drying my hair! It’s super thick so it takes forever…sigh. I think that wet hair can look very chic in the right setting.

    Cheers,

  • Maybe someone can tell me why whenever I air dry my hair it gets super itchy the next day.?? I hate blow drying!

  • I can’t believe you’ve actually gone this long without a blow dryer Alex! Good for you! I still don’t have full trust in the air dry technique…maybe next year!

  • Air drying is the best!

  • bonjour ,

  • Living in the Middle East, I always have over 30 degrees celsius most of the year and with the winters no less than 18 degrees. So we almost never use a hairdryer. I can’t wait to move into a climate where we need to blow dry our hair.

  • I would like to express what thousands of readers think here: it is almost end of August and we are officialy ready for longer stories again. After the bite size watermelon and cucumber canapes, we are ready for more.
What about Garance’s book? Coming soon?

  • I love letting my hair air dry but the next day it always sucks!!

  • I air dry it even in the winter months, even in NYC. Blow drying is awful if you have textured hair. It’s a bit chilly, but nothing I can’t tolerate. And, no, I don’t catch colds from it! Maybe it’s because I grew up in frigid Upstate NY. I can tolerate all kinds of brutal cold. I won’t give up air drying. If someone could make a blow dryer that actually works on textured hair, I might try it; however, most make my hair look like it’s stuck in a John Hughes movie.
