A Backyard Soirée

I love planning dinners and having lots of people over, but it stresses me out!!! Sometimes, in the hour before my guests arrive, I feel like I’m about to have a panic attack because nothing seems ready.
Even so, I really wanted to have this dinner with La Mer at my house. It could have been anywhere, but I wanted to celebrate my collaboration with this brand I love with an intimate, personal touch.
ANYWAY. I knew they’d take care of everything, of course – I wouldn’t be over here sweating in my kitchen. But still. We wanted to invite lots of friends, thinking that following LA tradition, three quarters of them would cancel anyway.
When we realized everyone who had confirmed was coming, well, we were just going to have to expand the walls a little.
I have to say that as soon as anyone hears La Mer, you can see their eyes light up. Plus, we’d asked Jessica Koslow, the chef at Sqirl, to come cook for us.
I knew this would be a serious undertaking, but I never imagined that my house would be completely transformed. I’ll let you judge for yourselves looking at the photos.
Everything was so well organized, I didn’t even have a panic attack (OK, but I did drink a tequila-turmeric cocktail a few minutes before the guests arrived, and that helped a little) – we had an amazing time, we got to try out the La Mer Regenerating Serum, which is really great, and above all, we laughed and kept on laughing in my backyard-turned-bar until very late.
It was so nice, it will be hard for me to go back to my small panicky dinners!!!
