By now you have probably caught on to the fact that Alana is a serious beauty. It’s one of the many reasons we were so excited to work with her on our first fashion story. Of course, a big part of the fashion story was coming up with a beauty look to go with the looks and we decided to go with something simple, natural and warm.
Tatyana focused on the skin, using moisturizer, light foundation and just covered up any imperfections. The eyebrow, as you know, is one of the most important parts of the face, so she took time to groom and fill it in just right. The focus then was on conturing the face, creating shadows and highlights to help create that glow. Other than that, no mascara, no eyeliner, curled lashes and a balm on the lips! Voila!
When it comes to this kind of look, using your natural beauty as the guideline. Take your best feature and work to bring that forward :)

Um, this works if you have a face like That!
totally agree! how about some advice for the rest of us normal people who are not as beautiful as this ;-)
wouais!!!!
The combination of the color of her eyes, skin tone and hair are so intriguing to me. Gorgeous.

Take care of the skin and you’ll need less make up on your face.
Love this. Stunning.
She is really beautiful and calm, and your photo really captures her stillness. So lovely!
I really like your recent articles where your subjects eschew mascara, eyeliner, blusher and lipstick – the ladies look amazing, and they’ve inspired me to cut out everything that’s time consuming in my morning routine (and make a whole lot more rom in my bathroom cabinet and makeup pouch).
I’m hopeless at contouring or shading – I have no idea which planes on my face I’m meant to highlight or diminish – so I cheat by using two drops of Nars Orgasm Highlighting Fluid all over my face, after I moisturise by rubbing loads of moisturiser deep into my face (so relaxing). I figure whatever is high/big about my face will be highlighted, and the rest will recede (that’s the theory, any way). Also, I figure there’s no point my creating cheekbones (like Alana’s) when I clearly have none.
I’ve given up eyeliner and mascara, and only use a curler every so often. Such an easy routine, as it only takes thirty seconds all up.
The two things I have to use when I feel like some colour, though, are a tiny bit of blusher dabbed with fingers high on my cheeks (the Nars Multiple in Siam dabbed on wet or dry is the fastest, best blusher ever, that stays on until you remove it at night) – or I look dead; and a bright/strong-coloured, long-stay lip liquid (Hourglass long-stay liquid lip and Stila long-stay liquid lip have the best staying power in the universe: one application in the morning and they stay on until I remove them at night). Even dabbing on the blush and swiping on and blotting the liquid lipstick, the whole routine takes less than sixty seconds.
It’s nice – an extra five minutes to do a bit of yoga, eat breakfast a bit more slowly, and welcome the morning more kindly.

What a lovely face. While I love reading the steps, it would be great to have a visual (a few more photos) leading up to the finished product. I miss seeing several photos in one post. One photo just leaves me wishing I could see more of what’s going on – or what’s behind the scenes. Either way, thanks for all the great tips.
i love everyting about this photo, good job :)

she is so gorgeous

Love her hair and skin!

What did the makeup artist use to add the dark color underneath the model’s eyes? Was it a shadow? I love the shade.
She is so striking and beautiful!

Wow, I love the photo and her features! Such a beauty!
She is gorgeous, but she is made up in such a way that she looks colorless and I start worrying about her health!! Am I missing something? It’s like she got stuck between Technicolor and B&W because her color was subtracted using grey clothing and makeup.
