Back to Backpacks

The great backpack debate is still continuing on in our office but I think I might be able to sway Garance’s opinion this time…
How cool/chic/gorgey is this Elizabeth and James backpack?! Super minimal, simple hardware and pony hair? Sign me up. And you know what, it doesn’t really scream backpack. It looks like a cool bucket bag that you could totally carry without swinging it over your shoulder…
What do you guys think? Do these have you rethinking backpacks?
Poil de poulain ? :s
Please no!

Well, well, well, I am not sure…

As chic as this is, I still question the backpack trend
Totally agree… have turned into a true backpack fan since I found the most beautiful suede one from Rokit… Definitely depends on the size/shape/material though, even more so than with more ‘normal’ bags

I need to find some nice like this. Have a great day.

I absolutely adore this bag, especially in croc! xx

Love them!

Backpacks are nonchalantly chic. I, for one, tend to favor them over huge bags (which, thankfully, seem to have gone out of style as of late). They are versatile, easier to carry, and are much better at organizing your belongs than a large, floppy bag! The Row is a case-in-point here. Crocodile backpacks? Eliz and James pony hair? Like, why would you every by a bag again?
I love them. I carry a lovely Burberry one I picked up in Italy years ago. I like the fact that they’re different from the rest of the pack
NOPE!!!

I’ve been wanting a backpack for some time now but the nice leather ones are such an investment! Scoping out a good one to invest my money in. :)
And I can’t decide on white, black, or brown! Decisions decisions!

Nope. Something puts me off.
I do not like the straps. two thin?
I do not like the pony skin?
I do not like the zipper?
Well am not sure yet, but this does not click.
And I think it shouts “I am still in high school”. While you’re totally not.
I totally started rocking a bright yellow backpack with mixed results… a lot of friends asked if I was ready for the first day of school :( but still rocking it!!!
I love the back pack! They feel good…like you’re a kid and carefree. I made one last year that I love to wear. http://aworldofprettythings.blogspot.com/2012/08/love-of-making-things-love-of-my-new.html
Wear the back pack. The E & J one is cute!
I loved it!
I’m posting looks from L.A. and accessories:

This backpack is giving a really bad flashback of the tiny backpacks that were in fashion in the late 90s in France. I prefer bigger backpacks.

YES YES YES. Currently lusting after the Raf Simons and Eastpak colab. DYING for the purple and black and white one!

I don’t like ’em backpacks one bit. Moreover, calf hair? :|
Totally love this and that it is made of calf skin, so it’s super soft.

Absolutely love them!!! My next bag is defo going to be a bucket – like backpack! xxx
Nope !
Toujours pas convaincue pour ma part…
Poil de poulain………. :(
I’m totally fan of backpacks!! I’ve been using them for a year now and I can’t be happier. Life in & out of the bicycle with the heavy computer and other stuff is so much manageble. And there are really nice ones around there. But I wouldn’t choose this one. Something in between is not a good option… If you want a bag, go for the bag, but if you want a backpack go for a proper one :)
So big NO for this hybrid.

Raf Simmons vor Eastpack, his latest collection is so amazing. I Will wear those all summer long.
I adore the idea of backpacks especially heading into fall and back to school season. A chic backpack like that one is just what I need.
I vote yes, I’m going to pull out my black Coach BP, I knew I saved it for a reason!

A+
I must say, were it not for the pony hair, this bag would look a bit on the grungy side?

I couldn’t find one in leather, or in a more chic streamlined style, that I liked enough – the designs weren’t meeting the needs – I work in film production. So I went real deal with this Tumi – in spruce with the orange interior – its got a military look to it. And the contrast of feminine clothing with this backpack seems to be a good mix. It’s also small, the perfect size for a woman, and it fits everything, but for a more industrial backpack isn’t heavy or too big.

I don’t think this backpack is practical (it’s gorgeous, of course). However, I bought one a few days ago (not this one) that looks so chic. Backpacks are back!
Totally agree Alex!!! I love backpacks and if you’re one of those people (like me) who carry their whole lives in their bags a backpack handles well weight and, let’s be honest, they can be soo stylish! Love the Elizabeth & James!! Thanks for sharing!!

I like how streamlined this one looks and the idea of being “hands-free”. However – in reality – they don’t work for me. Having my precious things on my back in a crowded train/bus/crowded place just makes it easy for pick pockets to slice through the leather and steal my stuff. It’s happened to me twice before, when I had two beautiful leather back packs!
Travelling in France recently, the train guards very kindly told me to put my bag in front at all times, to avoid theft. I’ve kept by this maxim ever since I returned, or travelled, and kept my handbag firmly in front of me and carried cross body or high from my shoulders ever since then.
So, for me – no back packs, no matter how lovely they are!
I think they’re really practical yet can still be super chic. I know there are concerns regarding theft because you cannot keep an eye on it all the time but you can buy ones with drawstrings and a flap plus a zip pouch inside (mine’s like that). From personal experience I can say I’ve never had an issue with safety when it comes to carrying a small backpack; recently I went to Paris and when I went on day long trips my cross body wasn’t going to do and the backpack held all that I needed.
I would wear this one, definitely! http://www.flaircat.com
Foal’s fur = foal’s SKIN. And foal’s meat isn’t even eaten. The shape is cool, the material is just pure snobbery. In suede, it would be great too !
Mon cas… :))
Chic & practical. I think this one would be way cooler if some older lady would wear it. No?!
I’m in love with this one I’ve just posted today on my blog. It’s actually for men but I LOVE IT! And it’s by RAF SIMONS! Check it out!

A huge no!
