Plant Shops

When I moved into my apartment at the end of August, I made it my mission to create a living environment that was as homey as possible. As a self-proclaimed homebody, I spend a lot of time in my apartment, which often feels stifling. Determined to find a way to make my home warm and inviting, I set out into the world to find inspiration. As I did, I noticed a multitude of plant shops popping up all over the place. Little boutique havens filled with plants of all types and sizes! Each shop is designed uniquely, but with equal charm and delight.

Plants clean the air we breathe. So, having them around, in effect, makes us happier, healthier, more efficient, and more prone to creativity! And this is important because our home should be a relaxing space for family and friends, but most importantly, for ourselves! Plants need to be cared for in order to grow and flourish and in return, encourage our own nourishment! Read on for a roundup of our favorite plant shops (aka: hangout spots)!

The Sill

The Sill started out as an online service delivering plants directly to doorsteps. Along with the online store, this year The Sill has opened two storefront locations in Manhattan which display all sorts of plants year round and are a beautiful escape from the concrete jungle. Aiming to spread the plant love and knowledge, every plant from The Sill comes with simple care instructions, a money-back guarantee, and direct access to plant experts to answer any and all questions, making your plant parenting experience as easy as possible.

Plantshed

Here at the Atelier, we are so lucky to have this shop right on our very own corner! Plantshed functions as an online service, but most importantly their Prince street location is a combination of plant shop and cafe! If you’re looking for a place to work that feels infinitely homier than starbucks, Platshed is the perfect spot. You’re surrounded by fresh-air-giving plants with all the latte goodness you could want–what could be better?? And on your way out, ask a friendly employee to recommend a new plant friends to take home!

The entire shop is managed by Japanese plant artist Satoshi Kawamoto. He has aesthetically curated shops all over the world including Milan and Tokyo. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice on the best plants for your living condition, because there are plenty of beautiful leafy friends to take home.
