Two fashion industry icons recently joined forces to cook up a perfect accessories storm for us to welcome June with open arms–and a cute bag!
Designer Pierre Hardy and model-designer-actress-extraordinary woman Liya Kebede took their friendship to the next level by uniting their brands for a capsule collection of accessories.
Pierre Hardy’s sandals and sneakers are transformed with Lemlem’s traditional fabrics, the ethical brand Liya founded 10 years ago. The locally handcrafted materials come from Ethiopia, Liya’s native homeland. The pair have revamped Hardy’s classic Gae sandals and Slider sneakers, which are available in three colors, as well as a bucket bag and a fringed pouch available in the same striped woven fabric.
In view of the rarity of the materials, their collection is condensed and limited, presenting a new way of apprehending luxury showing that foreign artisanship is rare and precious. A part of the profits from this collection will be donated to Liya’s Foundation, which works to improve healthcare and economic opportunities for women in Africa.
The fashionable and ethical charm of these pieces is giving the sailor tee a run for its money as the staple striped piece in a wardrobe, or maybe they’re a dream print match waiting to happen?
