Let's Talk About

La Muse

8 years ago by

La Muse

The shows have been going on for several weeks now, and what you’ll sometimes find at the origin of the collections is a unique relationship: that of the creator and his muse. Think of Michèle Lamy, wife and muse of Rick Owens, or Olivier Rousteing who, in his new collection for Balmain, makes no secret of Kim Kardashian’s influence.

That dynamic has always fascinated us.

Recently, we discovered “Celebration“, a documentary by Olivier Meyrou retracing Yves Saint Laurent’s last years with his fashion house. It portrays him as a tired man, working with passion and precision.

Yves Saint Laurent liked to surround himself with women with both stunning figures and matchless personalities. From Loulou de la Falaise to Katoucha, these women left their mark on the designer’s style.

The relationship goes beyond being purely aesthetic. Love and deep fascination are at the heart of these legendary collaborations.

What about you? Who do you admire, and who influences you creatively?

  • I loved to work with a very good friend of mine, her name is Judith. She has a strong personality, is very funny, dancer, coreografer, teacher and a lot more… She lived 7 years here in Bolivia and returned back to Germany 2 years ago.

We are still in contact and every time, we see each other, we are doing a proyect together.

    Kisses from Bolivia, Patricia

  • Garance Dore – my muse! Hugs for all of you Girls in The Studio :)

  • My current inspiration/muses – Sofia Coppola, Garance Dore and Mimi Thorisson.

  • The coolest person alive: Yohji Yamamoto! Though I obviously have a big soft spot for Garance, too :-)
While I do believe inspiration can be found in the strangest of places, I just can’t wrap my head around Kim K. as a muse. That’s just a bridge too far.
    XO,
    Izzy
