Louis Vuitton Fall 2012

For me, it was less about the clothes than it was about the experience. I was in Paris for my first fashion week with G, where we were filming our first season of Pardon My French. It was the Fall 2012 collections. All season long I had been sneaking into shows so I could hold spaces on the stairs, in between rows of editors, for our camera guys. But in Paris, trying to sneak into a Marc Jacobs Louis Vuitton show at the Louvre seemed like an impossibility. I got super crafty and found a way to sneak my way in through the side entrance, behind Sarah Jessica Parker (!!), using a piece of Garance’s invitation and acting like I knew exactly what I was doing. Garance and I made a big effort not to make eye contact with each other so no one would be able to guess what we were up to. I got into the show completely unnoticed and sat on the stairs to take in my first LV show.
What I loved about Marc’s Vuitton collections was the theater. It was smoky and dark and all of a sudden this beautiful vintage style train pulls into the room and models started slowly walking out, with men to help them with their valise. It was such a memorable experience, and I’ll never forget sitting there with a huge smile plastered to my face. It was totally over the top, totally artistic, and it made me dream about fashion the way I did when I was young. I’ve been fortunate to go to so many shows, but this is one I’ll never forget.
