Electric Lashes

Ever since Pat McGrath sent models down the runway with electric blue lashes for Stella McCartney’s fall 2012 show, I’ve been obsessed with colored mascara. At first though, I admit, a little intimidated.
My daily make-up routine is minimal and my known inability to correctly apply my own eyeliner (although, I am capable of applying it for others…) had me a little nervous to take on blue lashes….
I tested it out a few months ago and never looked back. The look Pat created is a bit bolder than what you are able to achieve when swiping coats on your lashes at home (she applied a blue gel to lashes) but these three mascaras get the job done. What do you think? Wink!

Il y a quelques années, je mettais ce style de mascara, ils en existaient chez Yves Rocher. C’est bien que ca revienne, car rien que ce mascara ca suffit pour se maquiller le yeux.

I have loved this look ever since I first saw it on the runways but haven’t mustered up enough courage to go and buy an electric blue mascara yet. I hope it’s going to happen any day now :)
We’d love to see you wear the colored mascara! So that we have an idea what it looks like on real girls and not models from a fashion show ;-)

Absolutely love the azure Diorshow mascara – not for the timid. Really not too out there as you think, plus it makes your eyes look more awake. This is the only mascara that anyone has ever complimented me on. Which means I packed it on…just like a real makeup artist. Make them notice!
Moi c’est encore autre chose, mon mascara c’est le hypnose de lancome en violet-mauve. Il est génial parce qu’au premier coup d’oeil, une fois appliqué on dirait qu’il est noir mais dès qu’il y a un peu de lumière, de très jolis reflets ressortent et c’est assez étonnant!

Also– can I say something about Alex and Emily writing? I think it’s so cool that Garance wants to involve the team in the blog, but I wish it weren’t just “here are some photos” or “here’s a makeup item”. I like this post because Alex is writing a teensy bit more, but I feel like if they are on the blog (hi!), I want to get to know them more— like, their story of how they started to work at Garance Studio, things they learned by being around Garance– I mean, for all us blog readers, that would be such a dream job! what’s the day to day like? or what are their dreams? or how do they dress? If A&E are just going to mention one makeup item, what’s the point?

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! I’m not sure where I first stumbled upon the blue mascara trend, but I discovered Dior Show Azure Blue in the Fall of 2012, along with Nars’ blue liquid liner. The compliments never cease.
La dernière fois que j’ai mis du mascare bleu je devais avoir 15 ans (j’en ai 24), on me disait que ça faisait encore plus ressortir le bleu de mes yeux, mais par la suite j’ai trouvé ça too much, limite ringard, et je suis passée à un maquillage plus simple avec du noir. Du coup je serais curieuse de voir comment j’arriverais à gérer ça 10 ans après ^^
Oui, le mascara bordeaux c’est très chouette, je confirme. Plus naturel que le noir et plus lumineux, surtout sur les cils des coins extérieurs.
Pendant toute mon enfance, ma mère portait du mascara bleu. D’origine hongroise, pour nous le mascara noir étaittrès connoté “bois de boulogne”. Ce n’était pas du tout à la mode, à Paris, et la petite fille d’amis était restée fascinée par le regard de ma mère:”ooooh, j’avais jamais vu des cils bleus!” Ce qui nous avaittous fait beaucoup rire :)
Need to try this for night out, but I’ll buy a cheap brand first don’t know if I want to commit to it.

I used to wear purple mascara all the time when I was at high school! I think coloured lashes look amazing!

When I was a chlid my best friend’s mum would wear blue mascara, always, everyday. That’s why I always tie blue mascara with the 80s and sophisticated women!!!

I used to paint my lashes blue twenty years ago….no twenty five years ago…. I was a teenager then… so now you go guess how old I am, hahaha. I should try it again, used to love it! xxx
Blue mascara is so totally the 80s. I lived and breathed for it. I am about to break my number one rule: “if I was old enough for the first time around, I am too old for it now!” PS: I would have loved to see photos of the new blue lashes.

Don’t know nothing about 80ies. But 1997 is the year i met blue mascara, being 15 years old and never looked back, between then and now been friends with purple green silver too, black….. but the blue diorshow is the best best best best one, if u seen me on street probably i would have blue one, or green – usually for some 3 months in summer, never had red one as never been brave enough. But after Donna Karan show i had to try the pink one and been wearing it over xmas and new years, sneaking in my morning make up routine, have to tell u, my kids teacher was speachless this morning ups :-)
for brown eyes – green or purple are amazing and make them golden
for blue eyes – ironically blue mascara washes them out – brown mascara makes them pop
i dont wear eyeshadow so sometimes i use this as my shadow replacement
i’ve been meaning to try it out but havent gotten around to it..for YEARS now! lol i should give it a try very soon though..

my father family was very tall, my aunt is 6′ she wore 50’s suits with fox trim…shawl collared coats small bags and mule shoes very MB…she was very glamorous and had long red hair in the style of Veronica Lake and always blue mascara…no eye liner…and have very white skin
yes yes and yes ever since I took the plunge and bought a blue mascara from ysl (that I use every day) I am not going back to the boring black…I have brown(boring) eyes and the blue mascara just makes them pop. Long Live Blue Mascara!

Ah, la mode, ça va, ça vient ! Retour du bleu électrique, donc ? A mon humble avis, ça peut tout à fait illuminer un visage qui a la vingtaine. Mais dès la trentaine, je dirais que cela peut donner un résultat mi-figue, mi-raisin, non ?

Anything that keeps people’s focus on my eyes/face, and not my boobs, is a plus!! I would definately try it if i could find blue mascasra in my country :).
Moi j’en mettais quand j’avais 18 ans, je trouvais çà super fun! Et maintenant je sais pas si j’en remettrais… mais l’idée ne me déplaît pas :)

I’ve been wearing the Dior blue mascara for agessss and I’ve lost count of how many people have complemented me on it!
My last mascara purchase was navy blue mascara and I love it. It gives a definition, but it’s a little bit more delicate than the black one.
Moi je porte du fluo rose parfois, donné après un shoot thème “pink” chez Tank magazine quand je faisais un stage là bas à 17 ans.
Oh i just love the blue mascara. I have diorshow and love that it is not super bright but it’s subtle and makes your eyes pop.
If you want it to be a little more bold, put some of the diorshow lash plumping serum on your lashes first, and then the blue. It will be much brighter. It’s super fun.
