Double Squeak!

The other day, I wore shoes all day long that squeak!
It sort of feels like one of those things you’re not sure is anyone (or everyone) else can hear… Or maybe it’s just you? But all I can think of is those old cartoons when a character is trying to sneak around and ultimately squeaks around into disaster. And, in a city like New York, you wouldn’t think it would matter much, squeaking around the city… up and down Broadway in and out of this Bodega, that Starbucks…
But with fashion week and running around from show to shot, presentation to presentation, and then dinner to dinner (because there are obviously about 1,000 events every day!), it’s hard to not think that everyone is hearing you as you squeak along. So, I want to know: do you guys have an remedies for squeaky shoes?!

It depends where the squeak is coming from, but many times mine squeak because of my toenail against the top of the shoe, in which case, moleskin stuck to the inside top of the shoe should solve the problem. I’ve never had any luck with the lotion or baby powder inside the shoes methods, but those are some internet standard remedies.
Putting hand lotion on squeaky leather shoes works wonders! I was apprehensive at first to try it, but it really does work and the look of the leather seems unaffected.

Powder, works every time. Dont overdo it otherwise you will be emiitting white clouds!!
Loads and loads and loads of dust and dirt on their soles. But, since you’re trotting all over NY and they still squeaked, God be with you :-)
I’ve had two squeaky pairs and the only thing that worked (I tried lotion, didn’t help) is to rip out the insole and replace it entirely. I use insoles by Superfeet (the green ones) and they work wonderfully.
Le talc est une solution! A mettre en dessous de la semelle et sur les bords à l’interieur. ( ça marche trés bien pour les baskets et les derbies mais pourquoi pas pour les escarpins!)

One of my favourite pairs of shoes squeaks!! I don’t have any remedies…it’s kind of annoying but I love the shoes too much to let the squeak stop me from wearing them!

Yes I have a solution- put some kind of powder in your shoes, like talcum powder, cornflour, etc., focusing on the squaky areas. For me, it’s normally around the heel or under the ball of the foot. The squeaking is from pockets of moisture between your foot and the insole, or the insole and the rest of the shoe, and the powder should absorb any of this and also lubricate the surfaces :) I do this with all my shoes!
hmm, moi, j’aime ça… j’ai une paire qui pousse un petit couinement à chaque fois qu’ils se chargent de mon poids et, je sais pas… j’aime ça pour de vrai, ça s’ajoute au bruit des talons qui heurtent le sol, c’est comme pour la musique : un instrument seul a l’air cru, mais plusieurs instruments ensemble, c’est de la musique :) ça m’aide à marcher plus droite, plus fière et plus rythmée.
