Dallas Cocktails & Conversation
5 years ago by
Last week, Veronica, Bogdana and I hopped on planes and descended on Dallas for our second Cocktails + Conversation event in partnership with Women + Whiskies. After our stimulating Cocktails & Conversation Los Angeles soiree, we were excited to head south for some Tex-Mex, see some familiar faces and make some new friends.
During the event at Bourbon & Banter, Veronica sat down with the lovely and very funny co-founders of The Citizenry, Carly Nance and Rachel Bentley, to discuss how they came up with the idea for their socially-conscious, decor brand.
The Citizenry was the perfect pairing for our Cocktails + Conversation community event, as they are two inspiring entrepreneurs working to build bridges around the world for women (and men) through shared values and the products they create. Not only do they bring us beautiful products created with skilled artisans, but they make it a priority to celebrate makers and artisans behind this beautiful work – something we at Atelier Doré can really get behind!
Our partnership with Women & Whiskies celebrates women and all of the amazing things they’re creating, tackling, juggling and aspiring to do. One of the best things is reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new ones and our night in Dallas was everything we hoped for. Over a boulevardier (or three), we met some wonderful women and men and even a baby (!), all of whom came out to join us in celebrating women who are celebrating women.
A few guests shared some of their own stories of empowerment and even a few very kind words…

“My empowerment moment for 2018 came into full effect during a week-long solo adventure in Madrid. Choosing this solo trip gave me the space to make my own happiness through my selections of adventure that lead me to walking 140 miles by foot in a city that captured my heart forever. Nothing is more bad ass than being autonomous in a brand new city – and thriving.”
“The fact that they [The Citizenry] cared about the value they bring to the communities they work with, and disrupted the textile industry!” ~ @xoxtian
“As a graphic designer, knowing that they [The Citizenry] aren’t in the position of buying their dream domain, www.thecitizenry.com, broke my heart. I love that it is a goal of theirs to own it. I can’t wait until they do! I honestly appreciate how much care and consideration they have about their brand.” ~ Shanice B.
“We at studio D&V design get our inspiration from the fashion world and art scene. Our design is inspired and built upon the belief that design is a way of life. Thank you!!!”
“I always thought I would be inspired by my leaders, but my true inspiration came from my team members that work endless hours for their families and goals. Hiring the best people always makes your “job” worthwhile.”

Our time in Dallas was too brief, but we did manage to squeeze in time for some Texas-style BBQ, a little vintage shopping and a couple delectable whiskey beverages.
To make your own Boulevardier cocktail at home you’ll need:
– Equal parts Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Old Bourbon
– Campari
– Cinzano Vermouth
