The wait is over for a look at the Céline resort 2014 collection…
Photos showed up last week on the site, listed under Spring 2014, and it’s just about everything we wanted and hoped for. The brand originally did not release any photos to the press and did not allow photos to be taken during resort appointments. We asked: Would there be “Birks”? Perfectly minimal dresses? Another Berlingot?
We now know the answer to those questions: yes, yes and no.
Here are some of our favorite looks from the collection, which includes more “Birks”(!), great coats and more of those super cool slip-ons that just about everyone has been wearing.
What do you think about Céline choosing to hold off on releasing images of their resort collection for the last few months? Was it worth the wait?

SO, where to begin…
1. Garance & the Studio, I love you but I HATE Birks! I don’t hate many things in fashion
2. Colors don’t exactly scream “Spring”! It’s kinda depressing I think, some color wouldn’t hurt, event though it’s never been Céline’s forté
3. The shape of the items is hideous! Well, let me rephrase: these clothes have no shape.
That being said, I love their bags, they’re by far my favorite and they have been for quite some time now.
Even Céline can’t get it right all the time :-)

I love Birks and I love camel and black! And I love the volume of those looks! To hold the pictures back doesn’t really make sence in my book, they might be afraid of being copied, but I think that is going to happen anyway. xxx

I love that they stick to a simple color palette… they allow the wearer to add color to the clothing… like a canvas… the impeccable cut of the garment is wonderful and as there was so much going on with other releases…. I like the fact that they held back a little….. good things come to those who wait…

J’ai décidé de laisser tomber les Birks…
Les miennes ont fait trop de kil et vu que c’est à la mode je vais voir ce que je me trouve ou fabrique…
et encore de la fourrure. de quoi cette fois ?

It was worth the wait. The proportion, cuts, the shapes are stunning… So sophisitacted and for the arty, intellectual woman (which is me, ha ha). Yes maybe some more colour would be nice, but with shapes like that…

I love the slouchy-tailored look of the clothes. For a tropical country like ours, some of these clothes can be worn from the summery outside to the airconditioned inside of the office. And I can see too that they’re easy to dress up more for more formal events, and dress down (like in these photos) for a more relaxed vibe. I like the seemingly simple (simple but hard to execute if you’re not a brilliant designer) shapes. I’m still not completely sold with the Birks, though. I feel that some people can pull it off, some people can’t. Overall I really like this collection, it’s not a wow factor kind of thing, but more of a timeless, effortless-look-but-briliantly-executed kind of way.

This is so BLAH, I don’t even know where to begin!
Their bags are very nice (especially the clutches)… But this is (sorry) the most horrible line up of outfits… They don’t make these girls lock beautiful… And I imagine that paying the prices these items must be marked at… you’ll at least wan’t to look better than if you had shoved yourself in a bag…
It’s like halloween at a camping “resort” on a rainy day…
