Byredo Candle
6 years ago by
My boyfriend, Tyler, and I share three hundred and fifty square feet of living space with our dog, Charlie. I say we share it with Charlie because somehow that twenty-five pound golden doodle is very much in charge. Due to this confined space with a dog in tow, candles are always needed. But Tyler has put a ban on the extreme floral and feminine fragrances I tend to gravitate towards. So for the past few years I’ve learned to favor scents with undertones like cedar, tobacco, woods, rum, pine needles — you know, the stuff that makes men think they’re a lumberjack chopping wood in the crisp arctic air and not slumming it with the other city dwellers and their non-callused hands.
When I saw this Byredo candle was simply titled, Woods, I knew it was our kind of candle. And woods it is. It smells like a pine needles soaked in bourbon, slowly burning down to embers. This candle evokes so much “woodsiness” that after one night of burning it, we started talking about when we can make a clean getaway from the city and get blisters from our hiking boots crunching on pine needles instead of heels clacking on pavement.
But most importantly, it’s a scent that satisfies all three noses in our little home.
Funny !
