Capitol’s Capsule Collection

Now that you know the charm power of Laura and Capitol, I’m sure it’s no surprise she was able to team up with twenty different designers, including Rosie Assouline, Olympia Le-Tan, the Elder Statesman and Tabitha Simmons, (to name a few) and produced a Capitol Capsule Anniversary Collection in partnership with Farfetch. We obviously had to have our fun with the capsule and shoot a little fashion editorial.
We wanted to highlight a few of our favorites from the collection and couldn’t think of a better model than our very own, Pia Mechler. Pia may be German born but she possesses the exact same “Southern Charm” that Laura should learn how to bottle and sell. Pia is gracious, funny, but most importantly, a woman who takes care of herself as evident by her In Her Words. I came to find out that this type of dexterity and strength is something Laura goes out of her way to teach every young woman who comes to work for her at Capitol.
As Laura explains about the above dress, “this dress is a nod to my favourite decade, the seventies. Harley Viera-Newton created a fresh version of her best-selling shirt dress with a custom botanical print that references the Patrick Blanc-designed vertical garden in Capitol’s courtyard.”
For the above dress Laura wanted a function piece that could transition from day to night — and Peter Pilotto definitely delivered.
The collection isn’t limited to clothes. It also includes jewelry, shoes, bags, and even a perfume.
When talking about clothes, Laura says short hemlines and cleavage don’t personally interest her because she thinks women have so much more to offer than that. She buys (and now designs, with this collection) for the southern lady that is both strong and soft, funny and reserved, sweet but also a little bit deviant. Above all, she’s complicated, and that’s probably the best thing about her.

I like the first off the shoulder dress and I also like the floral dress by Peter Pilatto. Both are very beautiful!
