A Walk in the Park
7 years ago by
You know what I love most about NY when warmer days are upon us? Well, besides stumbling on the ideal multi-occasion dress during the current summer retail sale season – it’s the ability to find a space that can serve as an unofficial version of ‘Central Perk’ even if 100 other people are there too (insert under-breath grunts about how New York has changed).
In finding such a place, I’ve started a ritual to help subdue my getoutofthecityatallcosts impulses. Every Sunday I meet Brianna, pictured above in a seasonally sensible & park-coordinated green floral dress (green – a color that feels like a soulmate to her rich red hair) and two British friends full of clever insights at our neighborhood coffee shop (when schedule permits for said parties, weather dependent and holiday exempt). We each purchase a caffeinated drink of choice and head straight to this quaint garden park where we spend the afternoon contemplating the qualms of everyday life, admiring the diversified assortment of dogs (and also, quite strangely, some cats) as we dissolve into laughter.
A few hours later we part ways, and because it’s a pleasant day in the city I walk a few blocks only to find myself in yet another meet-cute that only NYC could provide. As the sun fades and my computer screen glows with the impending Netflix binge, I find myself thinking fondly of the afternoon, a gathering buoyed by discovering a place we call our own (that is, so long as we choose to ignore those other 100 people).
With that, I hope this summer brings you the discovery of your own local watering hole, grass lawn, or corner café, and a dress to wear there, too. Something like Brianna’s maybe – vintage inspired in shape but modernized in fabrication and with a cool hue of color – no matter which city you call home…

Lovely writing Brie <3
Love your outfit! and beautifully written
what a beautiful way to spend some time with friends
C’est un vêtement “genre conte fleurettes qui ne s’en laisse pas conter pour autant”. J’adore !
Lovely and inspiring, both picture and writing. It’s comforting to know that even in the most exciting city in the world, it’s okay to regularly go to the local places you know and love, to find your niches.
