Kids, your very special fashion correspondant just found a new trend. And she is very proud, as it was heard here and there trends no longer exist. Pffff. Tadaaaa !
Wide legged pants are back. Ok they never really left, but now they are really back ! I’ve even seen some jean versions at the beautiful Derek Lam show.
I love it, as it makes a wonderful allure, even more so that you can hide your heels underneath. Add to that a nice hat and a silk blouse, and you have a total and wonderful 70’s explosion, exactly what I love right now.
How do you like that ?!!!

ah ben moi j’adore! ça fait bien 3 ans que je ne porte que ça, l’hiver et l’été, comme pantalon, en tweed, gris, bronze, avec des sandales echasses et chaussettes, en dessous! d’ailleurs, je trouve qu’une paire d’echasses, c’est bien plus classe sous un pantalon large, qu’au pied de la lettre avec une robe ou une jupe… Mes 2 pantalons large d’hiver et mon pantalon à pont en toile vont entamer leur 4e saison…

Great picture! I still believe trends have to a large extent disappeared as people never really stopped wearing wide, they just added skinny to their toolbox (at least some people did). There are elements of trends but they are never exclusive (for example, bags were less structured, and all looked like a enlarged scrotum, now they are more elegant and structured – still, people kept on wearing their Kelly / Birkin when unstructured bags were all the rage).

j’adore et j’ai toujours porté des pantalons larges, même si je me suis mise timidement aux slims, mais juste de temps en temps hein, on est tellement bien dans un beau pantalon (bon par contre, il faut qu’il soit bien coupé, sinon bof…)
l’été, je ne porte que ça (en lin, tout bête et super confort) pour l’hiver, je cherche toujours – du coup je mets des khakis et des jeans boyfriends ou flare (en velours les flares c’est top 70’s :)

j’adore! longues jambes et jolies fesses envisageables enfin! (j’aime bien le slim mais franchement ce n’est pas le plus efficace pour se faire un joli derrière!)
Comme certaines, le pantalon large fait partie de mes basics.
Jamais je ne l’abandonnerai, surtout le jean large.
Bon, cela dit, j’aimais bien être la seule à en porter quand tout le monde était en slim (la coupe que je n’ai jamais pu adopter – quand on fait un 38, c’est pas top … Et encore moins quand on a de gros mollets !) …

I find it interesting to read the comments about wide legged pants being only for skinny girls, as I find they are flattering to those of us who are more bottom heavy, as long as they are cut to skim over the hips . Much more flattering than stovepipes!
I remember wearing super wide-legged big plaid pants in high school in the ’70’s with skinny ribbed turtlenecks. There were even some astounding pants known as “elephant bells” that were probably 24″ across. Toss a fringed bag over your shoulder and the ’70’s are BACK!

Pantalon large, chemise d’homme : Greta Garbo et Katherine Hepburn ne sont jamais tres eloignees. J’adore “tes propos” et vivant sur la cote ouest, a SAN FRANCISCO, le decalage horaire n’est plus que de….3 heures ! Pas trop difficile l’adaptation a “the american way of life”

Sur le site http://patrimoine.jalougallery.com/ vous avez en consultation gratuite tous les numéros de l’Officiel depuis ces débuts, et vous pouvez voir de vrais bijoux de cette époque. En revanche, je dis Attention la bonne longueur, car la pantalon qui couvre complètement les pieds, ce n’est pas très beau à voir, et en plus on a vite les bords du pantalon sales, parfois mouillés avec la pluie, et ça c’est moins classe.

I love this look to distraction. The long/wide trend shall become more evident, the less fashionable our skyscraper heels appear.
In other words, the longer pants shall drop the curtain on our unfashionable shoes, saving me a small fortune in buying the trendier flats.
I feel like right now you could just about wear any kind of pant and it would be “in”. It’s frustrating and liberating at the same time! She looks amazing though. I love the blue shirt with blue Celine bag too… Double colour seems to be another “trend”, except that of course trends don’t exist!

Love love love this! I’ve been in love with the 70s tailored masculine look for a few years now and so excited to see it hit the runways again. I work in the construction industry (aka around all guys!) and this is the perfect look to look powerful and earn respect with my clothing but still feel feminine. Wide leg says to me that it’s a confidant girl, and looks like she’s a warmer, smiling, adult- not a look how tough I am, look at my skinny bird legs and perfect blown out hair type. that is pretty specific no?! What I mean is, this is the girl you’d like to know. And she will more likely smile than scowl at you. G… I have to admit I felt let down that I won’t see on here Paris fashion as much when you said you’re moving, HOWEVER, I change my mind when I realize you are a woman living your life, and part of life is change. Look, the people on here like you so much, but it’s most important to make yourself happy, and to read about you doing it is awesome. I admire people willing to embrace change!

It’s probably the only trend from the 70’s that i really like, that I’ve always wore because it makes my thighs look smaller and my legs longer. And I’m glad hats are back (not necessarily the 70’s free-love-rock-band style), just hoping this style want become a sort of uniform, for I’ve seen this kind of outfit several times already, mostly with “wide jeans” – very 70’s, humm not so good, to literal .
The outfit in the photo is perfect, down to the watch, to the covered heels, the colours, everything. Oh yes, i will totally wear this!!

I just felt the need to say that as much as I like the pants themselves, and wide leg pants in general, I just really think that when the high heels are covered like that, it really makes you look like you have hoofs for feet. Apart from that, she looks beautiful.

Love the wide legged trouser, always been a fan. But getting the length right can be tricky, lest your feet look like hoofs… and, honestly, you do a better job translating your texts yourself than whoever’s been doing it for you in the past. Well done! :)
