You can’t imagine how happy I am to show you these photos.
I shot them in June for Vogue Brazil. In Rio, to be exact, in the neighborhood of Santa Teresa. Viviana (who was the stylist for the editorial) had been trying to convince me to go shoot there for months but all I could think of when I thought of Rio was…Ipanema.
Viviana kept saying to me, “Oooooh but Garance, aren’t you tired of The Girl from Ipanema? Santa Teresa is a whole new place, a totally different feel for Rio! You have to come shoot here!!!” Vivianna has a strong opinion.
Me too.
But Viv too.
So I finally gave in. And you know what? Sometimes it’s good to give in. Not only was Viv right about having to shoot in that part of town, but look at that styling!
The look in the photo above is my favorite. I’ve said it before but I LOVE THIS KENZO SWEAT SHIRT and this mix of neck accessories, scarf and jewelry together ?
I’m such a fan.
Conclusion = It’s so great to work with someone you know and love.
Seriously though! Look at this Mary Katrantzou dress!!!
On top of that, we got a chance to work with Lais Ribeiro, who is a Brazilian top model and who’s as sublime as she is cool.
So yeah, it was such a dreamy shoot.

Très belles photos. Un peu de soleil afin d’oublier la grisaille belge. Est-ce que la nouvelle a déjà atteint les Etats Unis? Nicolas Ghesquière quitte Balenciage. Je suis un peu sous le choque…Tu en penses quoi?

Ca fait plaisir de voir des photos du Brésil comme celles-ci ! Un autre sens de la mode, plutôt rafraîchissant…. La première photo est ma préférée, les petits bateaux colorés et la chemise… Il y a de quoi prendre de la graine entre le Brésil, la Colombie…. Ce serait bien d’avoir un aperçu des créateurs locaux, pour changer de Paris-Milan-London (je garde NY !)
La mannequin est sublime! Elle parvient à faire passer quelque chose d’intense dans la première photo malgré cet horrible imprimé “bateaux”. Ce stylisme est affreux (comment assembler le plus de couleurs et d’imprimés possible, le tout saupoudré d’accessoires importables – quand est-ce que cette mode patchwork se terminera?) les photos par contre sont parfaites, comme toujours. La lumière sur les couleurs de ce quartier est fantastique, bravo pour ce résultat.

Le mannequin Lais est belle comme la lumière hallucinante de ce quartier de Rio. Cela donne envie d’en voir plus mais comment avoir le Vogue Brésil quand on vit dans une zone que même le meilleur GPS y trouve pas?!

Quelle singularité et quel stylisme ! Et bien évidemment quelle patte, dans la photo :)
Le texte m’a néanmoins interpelée… On ne te rabat pas les oreilles (ou si on tu en es victime, tu peux tancer ton tortionnaire!) mais rebattre. Voilà, l’intervention pas du tout orthopathe (le néologisme fait passer plus de sens, parfois).
Sans rancune, visiter ces pages est toujours un bol d’air frais et singulier !

Mais, je m’interroge, dois-je être contente de voir que les gros colliers (et foulard autour du cou) et les serres-têtes hallucinants fassent leur entrée dans le monde de la mode ou m’attrister de perdre toute originalité :'( ?

Ipanema est certainenement un Rio moins touristique mais d’autant plus intéressant je suppose; Tu as bien fait d’écouter Viviana les photos sont sublimes (la fille est à tomber!), parfois il est nécessaire de sortir de sa zone de confort non? En tout cas je regrette de ne pas avoir accès au Vogue Brasil pffff….
I don’t like so much Kenzo sweater, but I adore this shooting, there’s all the power and beauty of Brazil!!!

Belle photo, beau stylisme mais s’il te plaît, est-ce que tu peux éviter les remarques du genre “Santa Teresa c’est un quartier nouveau” dixit Viviana. Peut-être qu’elle te l’a dit comme ça mais ça fait vraiment écervelées de première pour le coup, ce que j’ose imaginer, vous n’êtes pas. Ca pourrait typiquement faire partie d’un de tes articles sur les conneries que les gens du monde de la mode disent (un peu comme ton post sur les idioties dites pendant la Fashion week)… Santa Teresa ne vous a pas attendu pour exister et n’a pas attendu que Viviana le découvre. Ca m’a un peu irritée ce passage, c’est à peine deux mots mais ça fait vraiment les nanas auto-centrées pour ne pas dire ethnocentrées… “Hello Garance, un quartier nouveau a éclo, ça va nous changer de la plage de notre hôtel vient voir”.
Pourquoi ne pas dire simplement : “j’ai découvert un nouveau quartier (nouveau là, c’est dans le sens “nouveau à ma connaissance”) très sympa. Je crois qu’on peut faire un truc.”
Des mots mais tu le sais…. ça change des choses
