The Line / The Apartment

It’s one of the coolest projects going on right now. The Line is an online boutique launched by a collective of creatives that have the goal of creating a unique shopping experience and I know each time a new e-shop is lauched it’s the same blah blah but this time, they totally got it right.
The idea is to have an online store perfectly edited by the super talented Vanessa Traina and Morgan Wendelborn. And then the stroke of genius comes in when they decided to extend the experience by opening a “shoppable” apartment in the middle of New York. You can go there by appointment, it’s opened to anyone and you can find anything have everything from beautiful art to clothes to toothpaste, all carefully selected to make the coolest distilled collection. Even the closet is for sale!

It’s a also a place to discover Protagonist, created by Kate Wendelborn, one of The Line’s partners. It’s a deliciously minimalist and sublime collection.

I love that the selection of clothes is so modern, with a blend of luxury brands (Reed Krakoff, Christophe Lemaire) and others like Vince, which is way more affordable.
So, I love the project because it’s just so modern. I love how it blends the online and offline experience, but mostly, I love it because I want to buy everything they have!

I discovered The Line a month or so ago. The way they’ve mixed and edited the collections are, as you say, genius.

L’idée de l’appartement est tout simplement génial! tu vois les objets in situ c’est tellement bien pour se projeter…Excellent! C’est bon de voir qu’on peut encore imaginer de nouvelles façons de vendre…
C’est presque nouveau! ;) ce principe de vente est en réalité vieux de plus d’une centaine d’années ^^ Mais le rendu ici est magnifique!

BTW,il est trop canoooon le pull gris de Vanessa (par élimination j’imagine qu’elle s’appelle Vanessa!)…

Oui. Le pull gris! It’s AWESOME. I got it too, from Celine, and it’s nice warm and so intriguingly cut. With a triangular piece inserted at the back that gives it the most marvellous sculptural shape. Philo genius, really!

Magnifique ce pull-over sur une fille qui a beaucoup de classe : Vanessa est la fille (je viens de voir) de Danielle Steel. (pourquoi Kate Moss a autant de succès alors qu’il y a beaucoup de belles filles comme Vanessa ? est-elle mannequin ?)
Les soeurs Wendelborn sont jolies aussi.
Quand il est manié avec précaution le blanc est souvent joli dans un intérieur – j’aimerais bien visiter ce showroom qui semble très beau.

Ce principe de la pièce ou de la boutique dans laquelle on recréé un univers intérieur, c’est à dire une pièce à vivre ou a plus grande échelle un appartement (ce que fait The Line, Ikea ou d’autres chaînes pour chaque pièce, etc..), ça se retrouve déjà… dès la fin du XIXe siècle!
Un décorateur & menuisier belge de l’Art Nouveau, Gustave Serrurier-Bovy, a l’idée dans la dernière décennie du XIXe de présenter sa première boutique de meubles à Liège en en y mettant en scène le mobilier qu’il créait, pour pouvoir donner à voir aux clients l’ambiance d’une pièce de la maison. L’Art Nouveau est ainsi l’un des premiers courants à avoir conçu et présenté du mobilier présenté sous la forme d’un ensemble cohérent (on conçoit tous les meubles d’une pièce, toute la décoration sous un même thème, etc.).
Rien de bien nouveau donc même si c’est très élégant chez The Line!
