The EDIT No.4, Part 5 : Spring Denim

Denim, denim, denim and more denim. The world would not be complete without it, nor would our Spring EDIT No.4, which is where Part 5 of the series has found us.
Denim is a seriously durable cotton fabrication, whose etymology stems from a woman knowing what she wanted (like most great inventions in history, JK, but maybe???) – a pair of pants strong enough for her husband to wear while chopping wood. A girls gotta stay warm, and if it just so happened that her man looked striking in the indigo dyed pant, fastened with copper rivets the tailor had laying around, why not?
The evolution to denim today, well, it’s come along way – colored, the advancement of stretch, re-purposed, chambrays – there is really no limit to the fabrication once deemed for workers. In the 21st century, we’re all workers, wearing denim so often, it’s become as ubiquitous to a wardrobe as Starbucks has to any corner in a major city, you would be hard-pressed to find someone who didn’t own multiple variations.
Denim Jumpsuit, COS; Chartreuse Shirt, Simon Miller ; Earrings, Annelise Michelson; Denim Heels, Off-White / Burnt-Orange Top, Simon Miller; Denim Mini-Skirt, APC; Gold cuff, Soko; Bakelite cuffs, Cara Croninger
Black Blazer, Theory; Jeans, Off-White; Grey Tank, T by Alexander Wang; Sneakers, CDG Play x Converse; Necklaces, Meira and Logan Hollowell; Optical Glasses, Warby Parker
Chambray Shirt, Current/Elliott; Gold Leather Pant, Karen Walker; Shoes, Alexandre Birman; Earrings, Cara Croninger; Necklaces, as before
Denim is SO VERSATILE – its fitting at just about any moment. You can wear it from top to bottom, dress it up and dress it down. Denim may be the crowning achievement of the fashion industry – and of our closets! The possibilities are endless, and for spring – the thing to think about is embracing a bit of color, a pinch of eclecticism and a whole lot of diversity.
A pair of jeans with a slight edge – that white exterior zipper, worn with a blazer and sneakers screams the type of easy-cool street style girls emanate – and so can you. Really, just add a pair of optical lenses (potentially vanity) and you are set. You can never go wrong wearing it all together either, a Canadian tuxedo never looked so good.
How you wear it in the coming months is up to you – but it makes me wonder, is denim as big a part of your life as it is ours?

Really Cool looks, All of them !
I love denim but I can’t wear it at work (dress code – no jeans, no trainers). I feel like lately all I see is either jeans or flowery dresses. What about other options? I don’t have to wear super smart clothes and I usually wear flats. What would you suggest to wear?
Hi Justina!
We talked about just that! Workwear was our last EDIT : http://www.garancedore.fr/en/2016/03/21/the-edit-no-4-part-4-work-wear-updated/
Hope that helps!

There is nothing like a comfy denim dress. You can throw it on for practically anything with flats, wedges, or sneakers…so versatile. Great ideas in these looks!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention! The link should be working now.

love this article – and denim, of course. i don’t always think of white denim as denim, though of course, it is!
it is dyed (not died). you don’t want to kill denim…
good series!
Please can you give me more info about the Current Elliott chambray shirt. Can I buy it on line? Does it have a name?
Many thanks
I wear denim every day. I wear it so much that I found myself looking for other alternatives and avoiding jeans, denim jackets and chambray shorts. But don’t worry, that period lasted just two days. I just love denim,
The boyfriend jeans plus blazer plus white Adidas combo has been my uniform for the last two Springs!
Viva el denim!

Coup de foudre pour les 3 dernieres photos ! Je vais garder cet edit pour de futures inspirations.
JEANS..The illusion of eternal youth…illusion of cool attitude….looks great when you are young and small sizes….less good when you are not so young…it even look neglected sometime….so be careful…there is always the danger when we see it on great model and when we see it on ”real People”

What makes jeans, something that people of all ages have always worn indebted to youth? They look better on older people if anything.
Love the outfits!

this is by far the best Edit
love the styling Brie, you are just brilliant
I have a denim jacket that I wear all the time. Until today, which is when my daughter asked to borrow it. I have a feeling this marks the end of my ownership.
J’ADORE !

I love the COS jumpsuit with the yellow shirt, stunning !
Actually I’ve never been a big fan of denim in general. I always had jeans of course, because it is super easy to wear and works with everything, but I’ve can’t say I spend hours online looking for THE pair. But this season the diversity of cuts made me reconsider. I’d give a denim jacket a chance if it is really oversize :)
THOSE. PANTS. <3
(you know the ones.)
I would wear them to the club, to brunch, to the bodega, to grab a cup of coffee in the morning…
J’adore le jean sous toutes ses formes, c’est un peu une seconde peau pour moi! Alors je ne peux qu’apprécier cet edit! Je trouve les tenues superbes et bien vues.
really like the color palette of the denim jumpsuit outfit. also the black denim jacket with the blue jean outfit is nice. also the theory jacket outfit is interesting for its silhouette (although I don’t think it fits my style).
personally I feel OD’d on denim. this year my uniform is a pencil skirt with a tech logo’d tshirt. I’m trying so hard to dress down the skirt.
as I said in a response to the dress post, I’d like to figure out more ways to wear my lovely dresses. just to somehow dress them down.
These are all great looks for spring. Love that chambray shirt, and the overall skirt.
