I love Shala’s style. It’s always so original, elevated, different and cool.
Somehow she executes the boldest choices (bright colors and insane prints) in the most refined way, always with a ladylike touch. She will pair the two most unexpected items together and they always look chic.
Here are a few photos we shot in one of our favorite stores of all times, The Apartment.

Lovely shots. You have never shied away from showcasing different races/ethnicities. Could 2015 also include some more men’s stories and also women above size 0-4? Just a thought. Happy New Year!!
And women over 35? (But under 75? Middle-aged women never seem to be photographed for their style – only youngsters and cool grannies!)
I agree, more frequent stories of women of color, men (please,I know this is a women’s space but guys are stylish too and add balance) and the demographic that actually has the money to buy wonderful fashion, the lovely women aged 35-60. And featuring different, healthy body shapes wouldn’t hurt either. This blog is one of the most intelligent and beautifully presented of its kind out there, but so far it only seems to appeal to young, super slim women of a certain race, yet judging from a lot of the readers, all different people read this blog! The representation is sadly off balance, as usual.
Please take note Garanace, step out of the ‘comfort zone’ and blaze a trail. You are most loved and on fire right now…..if anybody can inspire change and present it with grace and elegance, you can!

First, I just love the white bed! All these new interior inspirations spread on Instagram and Tumblr are amazingly creative and Shala’s interior is one of them. I love white beds!
Also, Garance, I just love how you always show another side of fashion. You actually do not vehicle one single idea of what’s fashionable but several definitions that are all interesting, sometimes eccentric, often touching.

GD!? I’ve been hoping for another post on Shala for so long! and only you know how to capture a real lady. I love Shala Monroque. So inspirational. I’m always smiling when I see a successful woman of color shine in prints and color, similar to Solange. She has such sophisticated taste and nobody pulls of those looks the way she does. I mean check the Prada heels! *beep beep* thank you thank you for this!!!? (what do you think about a “career” story/interview with her? that would be awesome!)
I love everything about her unique style. I believe that a large part of style is confidence and self-awareness and she appears full of both.
