Bruna has that infallible way with vintage — that knack for taking items that have been loved by others before her and seamlessly interweaving with contemporary designers. And the outcome is always so genuinely unique and effortless, making us all feel a little of that, “Why didn’t I think of that?” It’s her easy ability to make every outfit original, though maybe that’s not so hard for a statuesque beauty from Brazil

It’s surprising; not what one might think to expect from an off-duty model, and that’s why Bruna always stands out backstage at fashion week… Or wherever she goes!

Describe your style in three words.
Effortless, chic, and cool.

What is your favorite outfit right now and why?
Right now I’m loving wearing my vintage dresses. It suits perfectly in the summer. I’m in a “girly” mood lately.

You own a lot of vintage. What do you love most about it?
Yes, I love vintage stuff. I have so much fun looking for pieces in the vintage stores racks. It’s like a treasure hunt to me. I find it hard sometimes but you really have to know yourself and be confident to shop vintage. It’s time consuming and, often, you walk out with nothing. If you aren’t sure about a purchase, you can easily walk away looking like someone else wearing clothes that don’t belong to you. It’s importance to respect your essence.

Where do you shop?
Beacon’s Closet, Ina, A Second Chance, Resurrection for vintage, and I like Intermix and Opening Ceremony for modern stuff.

Your favorite accessory?
My Faye Chloé bag!

How does being a model inform your personal style?
I believe that being a model gives me special access to work and learn from the top professionals in the fashion industry. With that, I try to mix and match ideas and concepts from all of them, adding my own personality and creativity into it.

What is your opinion on the whole “model off duty” trend?
I think it’s important to follow the trends to keep up in the business. This is a trend that is growing really fast and opens up opportunity to show the other side of ourselves outside of “work”. It’s a good chance to have a voice and be able to put it out there to the world. What we wear doesn’t define us, but it does show a part of who we are to those that only get to see the runway or editorial versions of us.

You travel all the time for work. What are the items you always pack in your suitcase?
A great book. My Vichy moisturizer, swimsuit and vitamin C.

And do you have an outfit you wear when you travel?
Usually anything comfortable. I love to grab my boyfriend’s shirts and sweaters for the plane!

The one item in your wardrobe you couldn’t live without?
My destroyed denim pants.

Do you have a fashion muse?
Audrey Hepburn.
