Metallic Pleats

You may not be prepared to embark on the multi-colored-multi-decade-multi-kitsch like sensibilities that have spawned from Alessandro Michele’s Gucci takeover (which, is in no way a negative, I’m a fan – I like it all) – it just may not be for everyone, everywhere. Trying to make sense of the metallic pleat trend – we enlisted sisters Laura and Danielle who are not only like-minded in style, but up for the challenge of making said trend a sensible possibility for all of us.

The key seems to have been taking it down a notch on the whole, bold color scheme. The subtle silver and gold hued skirt and dress lend themselves easily to a more romantic, if not neutral, pallet of colors to accompany the somewhat obvious show-offyness of the metallic pleats. Add a chunky, cozy sweater or oversized rose colored trench and suddenly you aren’t going to the disco … but a desk! Or a date? Okay or maybe you’re just headed across the street with your sister because you saw every store that exists is having a 70% off sale.

Metallic Pleats

Getting dressed in metallic pleats never seemed so easy. What do you think, metallic pleats pretty please or pretty pass?

Absolutely “yes” to the photos and the long, metallic pleats, which are like rays of sunshine in an outfit!

Two metallic pleated midi-skirts bought two years ago have seen me through many seasons, on many occasions. One, a gold accordion pleated midi skirt, and its smaller pleated, equally long copper equivalent, have dressed me so easily for formal dinners with a silk shirt, or a skinny linen singlet racer back singlet with flat pointy t-bars; and through many grab-and-go days with an old printed baggy T, or the same black or navy racer-back singlet with sneakers, or a neat flat ankle boot in suede, with a warm cardigan, oversized leather bomber, or long leather trench on top.

Metallic pleated midi-skirts are like your neutral metallic brogue or clutch: you can wear them anywhere, anyhow, anytime. Pleats please and thank you, for me.

  • Such beautiful outfits x

  • Pleats pretty please. Love it.

  • J’adore la tenue manteau rose+silver slip dress +boots noires. Soft and tough a la fois. :-)

  • I’ve been following the blog for years and I love it. Today though there was suddenly a big and very ugly ad for job recruitments in the middle of everything. Part of the allure of the blog has been its visual beauty and its aesthetics, not just in the photos and drawings but also in the site itself. I can to some extent understand the need for advertisers but it breaks my heart a little to see an ad like that breaking up the form of the page.

  • Hi Alex,
We are in the process of setting up a new advertising network and so there may be a few things popping up in the next few days while we test it out! These ads are not something that will regularly be appearing on the site and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention! Would you be able to share what country you’re reading from? Would love to share your note with our Operations team. Thanks again!

Same here, today on my mobile device – a very ugly advertisement for TAFE courses! I’m reading your blog from Australia.

  • J’adore les détails métalliques.

  • For Emily: I’m reading the blog from Sweden! Also I want to thank you for your kind reply, I feel like now I don’t need to worry about the blog losing its visual beauty.

The silver slip dress with ankle boots and the rose coat are perfect! Love it! It’s soft and sexy with an edge. Perfection!

  • J’adore le look manteau rose saumon + robe argentée ! Mon nouveau goalz pour cet automne !
