Here is my favorite military jacket!
I won’t tell you how many I have (5) to not scare you (I even have one in camo), but the military jacket is one of the staples of staples of my wardrobe. Ok, so you have to wear it with something pretty feminine, of course. Like a micro-mini Isabel Marant skirt.
Anyway, I wear it all the time. Under my coats in the winter, as a shirt or a jacket in midseason and during summer, I always have it with me in case of a chilly evening.
What is your thing in the summer for when it gets chilly? Jacket? Shawl? Sweatshirt?

I have a white “military” jacket — but what I now carry around in summer is a very light linen sweater made by Majestic. I’m on a budget and it was for sale in the little shop where I work a couple of afternoons a week — low paying but there’s a nice discount.
But I would love something more versatile than the white one that I do own. Maybe you can make some suggestions!
Love the jacket. It hasn’t really been chilly at all in New York — but if it were — a white cable knit sweater from J.Crew (with combat boots.)

I love these clothes that you can use for everything every season! I personally use a slightly oversized denim shirt which we found in Japan for our store. It’s super soft, super classic, super comfortable, but also super cool. Easy!

Un châle de couleur acheté en Turquie, ça ne tient pas beaucoup de place et ça tient chaud au cou ou aux épaules !
Mon truc, c’est le foulard ou l’écharpe… si possible à franges!
Et j’ai bien peur que cela serve prochainement en Bretagne Sud…
La veste, pour moi, est en jean… mais jamais militaire jusqu’à présent: c’est un drôle de tabou personnel, dû au fait d’avoir vu des uniformes pendant tout mon enfance. Mais, même un tabou de cet ordre… pourrait prendre fin!
La mode autorise toutes les évolutions, elle libère aussi parfois. C’est pour cela que je l’aime!

I always carry a gauzy blue wrap, in case it’s too chilly inside a restaurant or a movie theater, since it’s scalding hot all day and night lately. It packs very compact so I can even shove it in a purse.

I’ve got a tan/khaki jacket that’s pretty timeless and can be anything from sporty to preppy.It transitions so well into everything, I love it.

Un foulard en soi, parce que ça tient incroyablement chaud et parce que sa légèreté permet de se sentir en été malgré tout!
Moi maintenant c’est la chemise en jean! J’ai un visage trop carre et en militaire je fait trop severe…bon au moins je crois…

I love this jacket. Such a great color and I like the ‘worn in’ in feel it has. Usually I forget my jacket and just bare the cold. But if for whatever reason I do think ahead, it’s usually a simple, light cardigan.

A cashmere cardigan! Long sleeved and heavy for winter and three quartered and a light weave for spring/summer. And in a plethora or colors from neutral to bright!

I have a blue chambray button-down shirt that I take everywhere. It’s perfect as a swimsuit cover-up, or as something to slip on in the movie theater (that moment about halfway through the movie when you start to feel chilled).

J’adopte tout : l’echarpe (en soie, en lin), le cardigan, la veste en jean, la veste militaire.

Cardigans or a shawl wrap for summers. Although….. We are not having a summer here in the UK brrrrr- it has been grey and rainy and cold most of the time and no clear summer skies, no “proper” sunshine or heat. We will become shocked when we see the glowing disc in the sky and may retreat indoors as it will be strange sighting for us! big wink ;)

Nice! I bought a green military jacket early in the spring, and I wore it when it was chilly, especially at nights. But here in Chicago we’ve been having heat nonstop, so the opportunity to use it went away in June :S

Il y a la vieille veste en jean qui va avec toutes les robes, ça c’est un basique.
Mais avec les jeans, je ne suis pas à l’aise avec l’idée de mélanger des delavages différents donc, le vieux gilet noir immense tout bouloche qui sert même de pré manteau début octobre (sur la veste en jean pré citée) …
Mais il y a aussi l’étole doudou qui traîne tout le temps dans mon sac
Ok si je ne dois en garder qu’un ce sera le gilet : grand, côtelé, col châle, 2 poches, parfaitement démodé mais adoré …

It’s always cold in San Francisco (even in July!), so I love layering cardigans. Smaller, thinner ones as a base layer, then a bigger chunky knit for when the fog rolls in :)

Un pashmina (oops, je crois que ça ne se dit plus du tout !) ; enfin bon une étole en cachemire super fin que mon homme m’a rapporté d’Inde. Ne prends pas de place et m’a sauvé bien des fins de soirées. Un vrai doudou, je la trimballe partout.

Carole: The classic trenchcoat was also designed for war!! Handknits are not fashion-y, but maybe because I grew up in Canada I like nothing better than a handmade cardigan. I do sometimes throw on a leather jacket though if it gets really cool or windy!

je suis très cardigan pour les coups de frois impromptus, j’en ai un peu dans toutes les couleurs.Mais récemment j’ai investi dans mon premier vrai “hoodie”, le classic gris qui se zippe de chez Nike..J’adore. Ca va avec tout…Sous un blazer, avec une mini, un jean. Et puis le molleton c’est tellement confortable! La chemise en jean (plus fine que la vest) c’est aussi un bon basique pour les journées de printemps plus fraiches…

Oh comme cette phrase devrait avoir du sens mais l’ été est tellement froid ici cette année, on doit le dégainer tout le temps ^^ (oui l’été froid, dur oxymore mais notre réalité, Paris, le nord, la Belgique, l’été le plus pourri), sinon c’est la chemise en jean, quand on a trouvé la parfaite, on la dégaine à tout va ;-)

J’adore ! mais t’as intérêt à être méga stylée pour bien la porter ! moi mon basique/indispensable de l’été : le blouson en jean : en mode t shirt sur un haut de maillot, qui casse la tenue sur une robe noire chic le soir, ou qui fait un super oreiller à la plage ;-)
I always have a scarf or pashmina with me- and when I say ‘always’, I mean it! A pashmina can be a scarf or a shawl, or even a blanket when I get chilly in the cinema etc!
I am on the hunt for my perfect light jacket though for the times when it’s too chilly for just a cardigan(or I want more structure than a cardigan can give) but not cold enough to mean that I should have my winter coat- I thought it would be simple…but I should really have known better!
Thin leather jacket, denim jacket, sweats :) and blankets, of course, when sitting on the terrace enjoying the last light of the day.

j’avais adoré ton idée de porter la veste militaire sous une veste en fourrure, ca permet de bien camoufler la fourure avec eventuellement un col qui dépasse mais c’est plus discret qu’une fourrure. Personellement j’aurai du mal à assumer. Sinon, pour mes nuits fraiches d’été j’ai un perfecto, so perfect !
Je n’ai jamais réussi à acheter une chemise militaire… aucune idée du pourquoi car dès que j’en vois une sur une autre, je trouve ça merveilleux… j’ai même envie d’une veste d’officier pour l’hiver ;)
Cet été, comme les précédents depuis 10 ans, allergie au soleil oblige, pour me protéger des vent-coulis (le mot est doux mais ses conséquences douloureuses aux cervicales) ou des rayons UV, j’ai un grand manteau de soie légère qui flotte derrière moi quand je marche. C’est la pièce de mon dressing que je préfère et je le mets sur tout… même s’il est fleuri et coloré. on dirait une robe de chambre, un kimono, il est improbable et parfait !

Mon truc à moi, c’est un long gilet en cachemire écru de chez les Petites ou un cardigan blanc. Un jean. Mais… j’avoue adorer la veste militaire portée de cette façon mais je trouve jamais ça super sur moi. Mais j’adore sur toi Garance.

I usually wear a flannel shirt over a tshirt/sleeveless top in the summer. Keeps me warm too!
avec cet été pourri je ne quitte plus jamais mon perfecto en cuir, on se sent protégée, voire inattaquable. c’est récent, avant j’étais très cardigan-doudou, dans lequel on se sent douillette et rassurée. mais ce n’est rien en comparaison d’un cuir, qui s’apparente à une armure indestructible de super-héroïne… (tu dois avoir la même sensation avec tes trucs militaires, le fait d’avoir un truc “masculin” certainement)
