We have always had quite an unconventional Christmas and that’s just the way I like it!
No snow, no surprise presents (we hit the day after Christmas sales together instead), and lots and lots of potato latkes.
I’m from Los Angeles, where 50°F is considered freezing. New York is usually under mountains of brown, slushy snow around the holidays, so going home feels like a nice little sunshine getaway. Instead of buying gifts in advance, my parents and I really enjoy shopping together. We all pack into the car super early on the 26th with our game faces on. It’s become a tradition! As for food, Christmas means heaps of delicious latkes by my godmother. Anyone that knows me understands my love of carbohydrates :)
This might not sound like Christmas to most people but, for me, it’s just perfect.

Je trouve cette habitude très chouette. Les soldes commencent le lendemain de Noël et c’est absurde de dépenser avant, quand on y pense. Encore que ça dépend de quoi il s’agit, les soldes ne s’appliquent pas tellement aux livres.
Noël, c’est vraiment une histoire de famille, et chacun la sienne …. :)
