Part 6 of our EDIT No. 3 is all about jewelry (and the smart knits to wear them with!). For Fall, and particularly winter, these two really lend themselves to each other. While some might find it hard to wear jewelry in cold weather, I think it’s the perfect time to embrace a bold earring, a fun costume piece, or jewelry actually built into your sweater!

What is so special about jewelry, is that it’s really for everyone. Even me, who’s general jewelry style… well, to say “minimal” is kind – “barely noticeable” is more like it. But even I can’t resist an interesting earring! So let’s break it down into three short categories of interest, and who better to demonstrate these artistic possibilities than an artist herself, Ana!

Our favorite newcomers to the bijoux world, please meet Sophie Buhai and Charlotte Chesnais! One Californian and one Parisian, both share a finite interest in sculptural silhouettes. While Buhai’s pieces are sturdy, solid silver and fit for the likes of Georgia O’Keefe admirers, Chesnais offers a glance into an almost galactic, future evolution of what jewelry can be.

Traditionally costume jewelry was meant to be very cheap, in today’s market it’s, well, let’s say contemporary pricing (although if you are buying online, it will likely be under ‘jewelry’, as opposed to its flamboyant counterpart ‘fine jewelry’)! But you can’t take the delightful jest out of this grouping – may it be a puzzle piece hoop earring, a duo of pearl embellished brooches or a set of oversized brass earrings reminiscent of… split petals I believe?! It hardly matters, they are Céline and they are beautiful! :)

Even two favorites like Aurélie Bidermann and Repossi, seen here on the site for many years, have found ways to update their classics. I love the rendition of Aurelie’s do brasil style bracelet worked into the neckline of a hand-knit sweater! And the Repossi black chrome gold antifer pieces are just the thing to make you suddenly feel like that’s all you ever wanted in a ring.

So while seasons change, and new designers come into the spotlight, there is always something fresh you can do with jewelry. And for fall, I think the possibilities are endless… and so is that stack of sweaters calling your name!

    Merci !

  • Merci Laura! :)

  • Brie, j’adore ton stylisme !
    A bientôt !

  • Merci Marielle! bisou

  • There is something quite contradictory in wearing knit with super bold metal earings that fascinates me! Soon to dare it….

  • large jewelry does not work with long hair, and certainly not once you add winter scarves and coats into mix! I don’t even like tops with buttons and zippers on them- they seem only made for those with short hair. my long curls get caught in all that stuff.

  • Just cut my hair to above my shoulders and have actually worn the same pair of silver dot earrings everyday for years … but OMG, after seeing this I think it’s time for another change to big, beautiful earrings!! egads how fun!

  • This post is wonderful.

I was always for dainty jewellry stacked up over sweaters but I see how statement ones make a bang !

  • Thank you for sharing this post!!!
I love jewellery so so much, especially the ones inspired by ancient greece and egypt… amazing!!!

Stunning photography! I love the jewelry and knit mix! So fun and bold but still classic in a way.
I have a few David Yurman and Alexis Bittar pieces that I love, easy to wear, go with everything type of pieces. I also have a few heirloom handed down pices, some I can wear everyday and some for more special occasions. But I try to wear jewelry everyday, it was made to be worn not sit in a box!

  • Thank you Jennifer!! :)

  • Ana looks stunning on the photos. Erik, great job.
