Earth Day comes every year.
(Ok, so we’re making a week of it.)
And, while we should be conscious all year-round (my vintage addiction I believe is a step in the right direction), it’s kind of a nice reminder each April that, in fashion, brands do exist who are working with the future of our planet in mind. They’re thinking all year long about it, may it be sustainable fabrics or eco-friendly processes.
Organic by John Patrick has been creating collections with fair labor practices and ecological awareness for over a decade now, and new-comer Amour Vert (literally “green love” in french) is following in those footsteps. Then there’s brands like Reformation who, on top of sustainable and dead-stock fabrics, go one step further with their use of recycled hangers and packaging in stores. Or Re/Done who is actually just re-tailoring existing jeans to a new more modern fit.
I think what most of these brands have nailed, and what makes them a success, is the notion that eco-friendly fashion doesn’t have to mean you’re a tree-hugging hippie sipping yerba mate, wearing a shirt that reads “SAVE the PLANET”. Which, by the way, I’ve definitely participated in all of the above (likely while giving a peace sign).
So, we wanted to share a few of our favorites with you, styled on the endearing Java (if she seems familiar, it’s because she’s Lolita’s sister!) . And prove that it’s cool to be kind to the earth every day, may it be with the shirt you put on, or the bottle you recycle. Eco never looked so chic!

S’habiller “écologique” et éthique, c’est un vrai défit! Ici en France en tout cas. Et j’avoue prendre de moins en moins de plaisir à acheter des vêtements car on ne peut pas fermer les yeux sur l’envers du macabre décor. Alors j’espère que dans un avenir proche, ces marques “green” ne se compterons plus sur les doigts de la main mais deviendront légions… Idem pour la journée de la Terre…
