At Marine’s

Paris is full of small cool spaces. We stopped by to visit Marine at her home in the Marais, a converted space that feels more California bungalow than an apartment in a major city.
I love that you get that great sun from the skylight, it really makes the space feel open and warm. Marine, a stylist at French Elle and her photographer boyfriend Eddy, also happen to have filled their apartment with tons of cool things from their work in fashion, from an entire wall of years of magazines and books to those perfectly hung frames.
It’s kind of a lesson in how little things make a big impact.
There’s something about certain small spaces that as soon as you walk in, you feel welcome and like you’ve been there before. It’s what makes them so special, and why it’s nice to share them with you !
Such a lovely, inviting home! I love how there is so much to look at, but it doesn’t feel crowded.
This space is amazing, I’d love to live there!!

it’s nice to see an apartment that looks like someone actually lives there – and there are books (books! not albums, but books with sentences). over-designed spaces fit only for a photo shoot are so tiring

Such a lovely space- full of personal things but not cluttered, warm and welcoming…I especially love wooden floor- it lends home certain elegance.
I spent lots of time in Marais this summer and loved it! Tts such a divert place. On one hand the expensive shop and Places des Voges and on the other end wholesale jewellery shops (and oh boy! what a choice!). We wishes we were staying there!

It is exactly this “something” that differs great architects and designers from the rest. The “something” is the ability to generate life. Christopher Alexander wrote great books about it! It is the knowledge that is not taught at schools.

I swear my place looks similar. I’m missing the lush plants. That can be easily remedied by moving them closer to the light source like hers. And the rug–I’ve beenn looking high and low for a rug with a large geometric print like that.
I didn’t realize this kind of look is “California”. Living in California I can’t see it, I guess because I’m smack in the middle of it–too close.
