Yesterday, I had the huge surprise of learning that Scott and I won the CFDA Eugenia Sheppard Media Award.
It’s such an honor.
First, to be recognized by such a prestigious organization for such a distinguished prize that some of my idols have won in the past – Cathy Horyn, Suzy Menkes, and Bruce Weber, for example. But also because for the first time, the prize is being awarded to bloggers. It’s so meaningful. Media is changing and fashion has opened its doors to the Internet.
It’s also a wonderful joy to receive this with Scott – with whom I share everything, including some very passionate conversations about the future of our blogs and how to make them evolve while still staying independent. It couldn’t be more perfect.
I’ll tell you more about it soon. First, because I am going to have to find a dress to wear when I receive my award on June 4th. The CFDA are the Oscars of fashion and so this time it’s my turn to make the right choice – NO PRESSURE – and also because I hope to write a good acceptance speech. One that will reflect the passion I have for doing my blog and sharing it with you.
And finally, as a frenchie living in America, I’m so proud to be holding the colors of my country (and my region, wooohoo, Corsica !) in a place that I would never have dared dream of when I was a kid.
Ok, all that said, what kind of dress do you think I should wear ? Which designer ???
All right, got to go call my mom.
PS : For the occasion, here is one of my favorite illustrations that I did for Dior Parfums in 2010.
