Let’s Celebrate!

Celebrating is something I too often forget to do. Time passes quickly, you go from one activity to the other. You’re busy. You may not have exactly finished a project yet. So yeah. You forget.

It’s too bad. I was thinking about this the other day with regard to my book. I got so busy launching it that I still haven’t had time for a party (not even a tiny one!) even though it’s one of the things I’m most proud of. Even though I still can’t even believe it’s been a New York Times Best Seller for months now. And it’s coming out in countries I even haven’t yet visited.

It’s too bad because all these projects, especially the ones we hold most dear, are real moments of growth, communion with others, and self-actualization.

Before, when my life was a little bit more fluid (I assure you, I’m doing everything I can to put a bit more space back into my schedule. Cult of the overbusy, you won’t get me!), I made a point of celebrating even the smallest successes. And each time, I thought it was a great thing to do. It was a time to say thank you to the people who’ve worked with you, and most of all, to reflect on why you did the project in the first place.

That’s why, this time, we decided to celebrate the release of Pardon My French. Something simple, but real. The people who helped me get it started were there (except for Amanda and Emily, even though they’ve been working on it like crazy), including the Outnet team (I could write an entire post about them – they’re the ideal partners, they let us have total creative freedom and give us the support to do things well) and my friends.

Typically, dinners stress me out, but this time – in the name of my new quest to be chill – I decided not to overthink it and just enjoy myself. I had such a good time, I totally forgot to do a speech, even though I seriously loooooooove speeches, especially when they are teary-eyed and full of good feelings.

Oh well, I’ll do one when we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the blog this summer. And this time, you’ll all be invited!!! (hehehe teaser)

I’ll let you take a look at the photos. And don’t forget to download the podcast here!

    And 10 years for the blog – I can’t believe it! :)
Big congratulations! And you are right – we have to celebrate. I am also very bad at that. I want to but then I get tired even of the thought of a party. :)

  • Beautiful photos Garance! What a lovely celebration. Much love! xxx

  • Ah oui? On arrrriiivveeeeee!

  • Congratulations, Garance + team! I’m so excited for you all and to hear each and every episode of the podcast. The first one was great. Loved Doll + Em :) On pins and needles till next Thursday…

  • Looks like a sophisticated yet quaint affair! I can’t wait to see what you’re doing for your 10 years. I forgot it was 10 years this year!

  • It’s so easy to get stressed over parties, especially in New York. Instagram and magazines make it seem like overplanning is practically required. It’s like the perfectionist polar extreme of those who think you have to get falling-down drunk and break a lot of furniture or you haven’t had fun. Neither is very satisfying.
Congratulations on the book and the blog, which I’ve read daily since the start!

  • Beautiful pic! ;)

A méditer!

Congrats! The photos show that it was a lovely evening!

I was hooked by the photo of a lady wearing sweatshirt with PORDON MY FRENCH on it

I LOVE IT!!!! It is so cool!!!

Is it possible to purchase it? How? Do you sell it via your site? Or is it a DYI project? ;-)

I will be more than grateful to get to know and if – possible – to buy one for myself

    many warmest regards

    joanna

congratulations with your book’s success. I agree, sometimes you must take out time to congratulate yourself or to allow yourself recognition for doing a good job, completion, closure.

the lighting in the restaurant (photos) is seriously gorgeous.

Forget what creams people use, let’s get really authentic here! I want to know what these ladies are doing at the dermatologist to get this crazy gorgeous rich girl skin. Merci d’avance !

  • I so love the first episode of your podcast! I am a foreigner living in New York as well and I so agree about the things you said about friendships in US and Europe!!! I was laughing through tears!!! I am such a huge fan of intelligent radio since I was a little kid and this was pure pleasure!!! I cannot wait for the next episodes!!!

  • Felicidades! Just one comment: do it more like your youtube posts. The first podcast was boring with these two ladies talking and talking hummmm…gave up on minute 40.
